I know what the point of marketing campaigns are. But intelligent memorable ones are far better. Then again, I tend to see something like that and due to the HORRIBLE nature it doesn't stick in my brain.

I guess it's fair that you point this out (and an upvote for you) if someone doesn't understand why marketing campaigns are done. It's also valid to point out that any marketing campaign (negative or positive) as at least "partially" succeeded if it increases mindshare (such as what you describe).
