The tubes would have to be pairs of halfpipes on hinges that open for easy access. Then you can clean out the cat hair every month and find the puke. Heh, that's why I don't own a cat.

I dunno, what if you accidentally dropped a coffee table on your cat? I mean, be careful with your pets.

I'm talking about just hinges on the tubes so you can open them occasionally to clean them out, most of the time they'd be shut and be just like they are in the picture.

Cats do have a way of sensing when they are about to be squished. And I doubt if a cat would fall asleep in one of the tunnels. Then again, kittens have been known to crawl up into engine wells to stay warm at night only to be ground to bits when someone started their vehicle.

Those tubes look pretty, cozy, I wouldn't be surprised if a cat fell asleep in there. But there's no way it could get squished or hurt if it did, those tubes are solid and won't crush or anything.

It looks like the tunnel pieces may come apart. I think you might also be able to take the covering off. Here's more pictures.

I agree it would probably end up smelling and still could be difficult to clean.

That looks like PVC, and it looks like it's covered with about 1/4 inch of foam and upholstery. Dear god, this thing would be uncomfortable to lean back on. It's made like playground equipment... not exactly designed for (human) comfort.

It's bad enough with our cat hiding under the bed skirt and attacking me while I try to get dressed in the morning. Or hiding around a corner to bat my ankles. She already crouches next to the pillows on the couch to pounce, give her this and I'd get no peace.

Of course I'd also be tempted to get a big fuzzy hammer and play whack-a-cat.
