A week?

Come on dude, you're bitching about that? Wait until it's five -hours- ago. Then bitch.

I work at Best Buy. I know about things and stuff.

[–]Ree81 2 points3 points ago

Are there any differences in image quality between HDMI cables?

[–]eatinghalal 2 points3 points ago

I work at best buy too, and the answer is no.

[–]phemice123 1 point2 points ago

check out this guy... he knows shit

[–]MikeyLikey 0 points1 point ago

No, there isn't. There are certain metals that carry a signal better, hence more expensive HDMI cords. You can't really differentiate between "shit-tier" cords and "god-tier" cords when they are such a short length.

I mean... Of course there's a difference. If you want the best quality on your new smart TV you want to make sure you get the best HDMI cord. We have a wide selection of gold-plated cords that will be perfect for you. Did you also want to get the Geek Squad Protection with that?

[–]donez420 14 points15 points ago

Let me guess, you're the type who comes in looking for an hdmi to composite thinking it will make your picture quality better.

[–]xXblain_the_monoXx 5 points6 points ago

It's possible, but it depends on what it's about. I work there right now and am currently going to school for a computer science degree with a minor in computer engineering. I set up servers and networks for small businesses as well (no I'm not a geek squad member, just a salesman). Our automotive installer is a college trained technician who's actually built his own cars in the past and only does this out of boredom. One of our camera guys actually used to make tesla coils and transistor radios out of scrap parts. He's probably one of the coolest old guys I've ever met, he's actually retired. Our appliance guy worked for sears for (educated guess) about 30 years repairing a variety of fridges, stoves, and dishwashers. There are a few that don't know much, but others like us who REALLY know what we're talking about. I'll never outright lie to you about our product, if you ask for an hdmi cable I'll sell you one, because you need one, if you ask where to get one, I'll tell you that as well. Oh and I'm only 20.

That's more than I can say about the employees from my local Best Buy. The last time I set foot in any Best Buy was ~18 months ago. Asked someone in the computer dept where I could find a VGA cable. Like a fucking deer in headlights.

[–]eatinghalal 0 points1 point ago

depends on the store.

[–]colourofawesome 0 points1 point ago

At my local Best Buy 3 people in a row didn't know what I was talking about when I asked where I could find a USB Car charger for my phone. Every one of them semi-panicked and asked what carrier I'm with, what kind of phone. There's some smart people that work for Best-Buy for sure, but they definitely don't make sure that everybody that works there is an expert

[–]creedofexperts 2 points3 points ago

WAIT A DAMN SECOND. You don't mean to tell me the best buy sales people who are paid lil over minimum wage aren't Einstein's reincarnations. I for one am appalled.

[–]Loopyprawn 2 points3 points ago

Then the employees aren't there for you. And they probably don't give a shit about your knowledge or your smarmy attitude. They're there to help those that need it.

[–]rrs118 2 points3 points ago

Come to my appliance department. Then we'll talk.

[–]cowsinspace 1 point2 points ago

I had a BB employe tell me that the wii had a high-def output...he was at that optimal age for knowing everything about video games...I call him xbox guy now.

[–]DiddlyDooDiddle -1 points0 points ago

You can't know more then him. You're at Best Buy!

[–]miianwilson 0 points1 point ago

I know next to nothing about electronics and this is how I feel walking into Best Buy.

[–]themelta 2 points3 points ago

I'm pretty sure if you knew more than them, you wouldn't be shopping at a best buy...

[–]ActionFlank 3 points4 points ago

I agree, but there's something to be said of the convenience of driving 5 mins to get something. It's his money and time. Luckily, the associates don't actually talk to you unless you stop at an item.

[–]chip8222 0 points1 point ago

Last time I saw this it was about the Apple Store and (as a former employee) I flipped my shit.

[–]AndyAndino 0 points1 point ago
