One thing I dont like is everyone's instantly bringing out the death penalty, which yes I understand how angry they are but they gotta think long term, he has 27 charges I think, the last time I checked so he's all set for life in prison. My best college friend died in Virginia Tech. For about three years I slipped into depression, alcoholism, and nihilism. It wasn't until listening to a very old podcast episode from back then lampooning cho that I got over it, seeing that monster brought low and ridiculed.

Is it too soon? No, sometimes some simple funny shit like this is what someone needs.

From what I've seen you're absolutely right. They aren't evil masterminds like the ones in all the CSI shows. They're just severely fucked up, completely out of touch with reality, tortured, dysfunctional individuals who really needed help and never received it. Then a psychotic episode occurs every now and then that leaves a lot of people hurt/killed and we have no back story so we just paint them as evil, unnatural, conniving, heartless non-humans. It's the only explanation that makes any logical sense. But we fail to see that these people are broken, illogical, human beings. Even this thread and others like it have dehumanized James Holmes.

Hey guys.

Of course there will always be a little controversy over photos like this.

The reason I chose to post it was because it allows humor at the expense of the perpetrator. The one that has committed the acts.

I know not to insult or demean the lives of the victims, nor would I ever seek to do so. Many people who have known victims or have been close to them in this case browse Reddit, 4chan, and any other social media, clearly. It's not fair to specifically attack their loved ones, especially in a time of grieving.

The act itself, or the perpetrator, however, should be treated with contempt. There are issues in media portrayal and the likes that I won't get into, that I feel far worse than a joke. I think that when we find humor at the expense of the case, it seeks to discourage further actions of these types.

When people are aware this is the type of attention they will be given, that they will become nothing more than an irrelevant, occasional joke, eventually, then this will discourage many of those who seek a form of media and social attention for their acts, good or bad.

I felt this was an accurate portrayal of James Holmes. After all, as we would say in the UK, he's a total and utter muppet.

One of my favorite Lennie Brisco lines, in response to someone saying a joke was offensive. "Yeah, and even worse, it's not funny."

First, Cook clumsily built a fake premise by calling the movie a "piece of shit." I've heard it reviewed anywhere from really good to "not great," but "piece of shit" doesn't seem anything like the consensus. Then, he uses this forced premise to make a punch line that, if it weren't in an "offensive" situation, might be funny to a middle school crowd.

I know Cook gets ripped a lot, but not having heard his comedy, I assumed it was because he was popular. If this is representative of his comedy, then I can start believing it's because he just plain isn't funny.
