Neil is a man of truth.

Because of that, he doesn't seem fit to be a politician.

I sometimes feel like I want to vote for someone who's not on the ballet simply out of spite.

[–]thel0wner 5 points6 points ago

I'd vote for him.

I worship this man. But President? No.

He's not bigoted, religious, or retarded.

Sorry, not a chance.

[–]enterence 0 points1 point ago

He will not be able to work with the rest of the corrupt bastards that the Government is filled with.

[–]spiderdj 0 points1 point ago

I don't think he's the politician type, I would like to see Boris Johnson, The current mayor of London run for President as he was born in New York so could technically run and I would find it hilarious that the "leader of the free world" could be this man: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--sASvJ72E2o/T-FO2MGyP5I/AAAAAAAACrA/T5De_rAElHs/s1600/boris-johnson-bike_667500n.jpg

I don't think that Neil would want the position of President. I think he would better be suited as either a cabinet member or possibly in charge of our scientific endeavors. I really like Neil and what he has to say, but simply put someone else who respects him should be President.

[–]kremit73 0 points1 point ago

and if he's elected, sometime in his 8 years we should remove the amendment restricting pres to 10 years-2fullterms

[–]Church_2011 1 point2 points ago

I'd vote for him, but he's not a politician. He may be more useful to the world by just being out there and hyping up science and giving lectures. I'm glad youtube exists so I can watch them all. This man has revived my love for physics and science in general. It's a passion I hope to pass on to my children as I do my part in ridding the world of religion. (I realize this will probably never happen, but I'd be happy if someday the religious were the minority and became the most distrusted demographic).

No! We need people like him actually going out and doing/learning/teaching things instead of getting ground up in schoolyard bicameral rhetoric and politicking. Let the politicians waste their own time tearing into each other; let the men and women of science and education work undisturbed. :)

Why don't you support Obama or Romney?

Being president is much more than DAE SCIENC?

Leadership skills, being well-versed in social-studies, diplomatic skills, and general political skills are all essential. I have no doubt in my mind that Neil is a smart man, but he is a scientist, not a politician, and there are better men suited for this job.

[–]daneelthesane 0 points1 point ago

But... but...

If he ran for president, how would he find time to finish Cosmos?!?!?

[–]Grinstall 0 points1 point ago

I wish people like him made up government entirely, but they don't. Therefore, I think you need someone that understands how to work within our disgusting, corrupt, aggravating political system.

[–]thecrownprince 2 points3 points ago

Except neil has no executive experience, no experience with public policy, no judicial experience and no foreign policy experience. Obama does have faults but, he is infinitely more qualified to be President than Tyson. He'd still be better than Romeny though.

[–]enterence 1 point2 points ago

I just realized something, Sarah Palin came close to becoming the Vice President and if John M died, she would have become President.

Please tell me who youd rather have there, Neil or Sarah ?

[–]StrongMRA[S] 1 point2 points ago

He has experience as the director of the Hayden Planetarium. And who says that advocating reason and free-thought isn't "experience?"

[–]thecrownprince 3 points4 points ago

I really hope r/circlejerk doesn't read your comments.

The only experience the present crop of politicians have is how to suck the country dry, cutting it up and selling it to the first bidder. So rather have an un-experienced Neil than a very very experienced GW Bush.
