Does anyone have the link to the original video of the "night time" cat?

[–]Engineer3227 42 points43 points ago

I want to see it again too. It's so funny when the kitten is doing the little hops!

[–]msterB 8 points9 points ago

Crabbing. And yes, it is hilarious.

[–]sp00kyd00m 12 points13 points ago

im a 6'2", 30 year old man and when i see a little kitten crabbing i squeal like a little girl. its delightful. :)

[–]Doodle_strudel 3 points4 points ago

John?

[–]protatoe 8 points9 points ago

You can get just about any at to do this by putting something on the opposite side. Postit note on it's back makes it army crawl, either side puts it sideways, my favorite is under the belly, does the tall walk. Looking for video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gl7xr5rftc&feature=related the original one I saw was Japanese and way better, but same basic idea.

[–]HeavenSk8 1 point2 points ago

Never has anything made me laugh harder than the first comment in that video.

[–]Poelsemis 0 points1 point ago

That's kinda sad if it's true.

[–]Engineer3227 0 points1 point ago

Haha, cat totally freaked out! Crab jumped over to the video camera and upon realizing that it wasn't a threat it decided to get the heck out of there.

[–]Haacker45 7 points8 points ago

Couldn't find it, but i did find this, so there's that...

[–]Engineer3227 0 points1 point ago

Hahaha, great!

[–]CupCaked 2 points3 points ago

I had a kitten that did the same thing after I accidentally sneezed on her. Hilarity ensued.

[–]brussels4breakfast 0 points1 point ago

Lol.

[–]untrustableskeptic 0 points1 point ago

It's possibly the fastest kitten in the world.

[–]TheActualAWdeV 9 points10 points ago

I've upvoted you because you provided awesome source and more awesome comics.

And because Nedroid plain rules.

[–]FrisianDude 1 point2 points ago

You deserve faaaaaaar more upvotes than the guy who posted the comic on Imgur. :U

[–]Engineer3227 0 points1 point ago

Some people only click on imgur links.

I only click on imgur links because there are no ads. I don't click on any website I don't know of. For my "random" browsing I use virtualbox so that I stand no risk of getting viruses or malware from unknown websites or from the advertisements on those websites.

Just because a website is trusted doesn't mean the paid advertisements that many websites host are safe.

[–]FrisianDude -1 points0 points ago

Yeah, but if you want the source of something then an imgur link isn't helpful.

[–]i_am_sad 0 points1 point ago

I run zero adware, malware or spyware protections. I run zero virus protections.

I have ad-block plus for Google Chrome, and I have Google Chrome's built in malware redirect protection to keep me from visiting bad sites.

I go to the scummiest corners of the internet and have had zero problems with my computer, because I'm simply not stupid when it comes to clicking dialogue boxes.

[–]Engineer3227 0 points1 point ago

Still safer to use virtualbox for every day "random" browsing.

[–]anEnglishman 0 points1 point ago

This was significantly better than the poorly titled gif of the original post.

[–]chucknorris10101 14 points15 points ago

this is my cat

[–]ApeofBass 13 points14 points ago

I too have a cat like this, but he sleeps right beside my head ass right to my face with his tail flapping in my face like some kind of fuzzy windshield wiper.

[–]denMAR 7 points8 points ago

Every night for almost 10 years now.. except for when he was a kitten I use to make him 180 so there no longer would be ass in my face. He positions himself like this ever since. Then he rubs his face on my nose or chin but I'll take that over cat-ass any night.

[–]ApeofBass 6 points7 points ago

Every night for about 8 years I have either picked him up and put him on the side of my bed, near my feet, or if I am really mad the floor. Still at least 4-5 times a week I wake up to this. After eight years he still does this... mind you we are pretty sure he is mentally disabled or slow... we did name him Stoner because of the glossy almost not there look in his eyes.

[–]denMAR 0 points1 point ago

I held back originally, but I'm going to ask now:

My cat likes to sleep about an inch away from my face. Since your cat sits backwards on hours on end - have you ever got pinkeye?

[–]ApeofBass 0 points1 point ago

Hahaha, no I have never had pinkeye.

[–]BadWithWords 0 points1 point ago

At least yours sleeps. When I lay down, my kitten decides that there's still shit to be slapped and there's no time for sleep. If I take her out of my room, she meows until I let her back in where she proceeds to slap shit. I can't win.

[–]Llelds 0 points1 point ago

Ours are shut out of the bedroom at night time because of this. This resulted in howling and pawing at the door. Recently we got an Innotek Ssscat (a device that is a motion sensor activated release of compressed air) and position it in front of the door. Peaceful sleeps once more!

Also works on kitchen benches and behind computer monitors :D

Disclaimer: I don't work for Innotek

[–]RedAero 0 points1 point ago

Liar. It's Andrew W.K.'s

[–]chriskilinc 3 points4 points ago

No..

[–]HouseOfHouse 48 points49 points ago

That little side hop/jump that it does at the end is awesome!

[–]Cryptic0677 11 points12 points ago

On a serious note, I used to be like this. I did a few things around the same time, so I'm not sure what really fixed it, or maybe they all helped, but I stopped drinking caffeine (or at least cut back tremendously), changed my diet for the healthier, and started exercising much much more (although I wasn't exactly a slouch before). Also getting into a sleep schedule (i.e. bed at around the same time most nights) probably doesn't hurt.

[–]AnAngryFetus 11 points12 points ago

I did this too and it helped somewhat, but I still have this huge burst of energy around 9pm. Guess I just like the night too much.

[–]greg19735 2 points3 points ago

what do you do during the day? i started doing a full ~9 hour day work thing and i went from being nocturnal to asleep 100% of the time.

[–]msterB 4 points5 points ago

So did I, but what happens is I am EXHAUSTED when I get home from work around 6pm. After dinner and some rest, I feel more awake than I did all day around 8-9pm. It got better with full-time job, exercise, etc. but it definitely has yet to go away.

[–]anyalicious 1 point2 points ago

I get up at 5:30am, and I get incredibly tired around four, but even if I don't take a nap, arond ten p.m., I feel very awake.

[–]sanjsanj 5 points6 points ago

OMG, this is exactly what happens to me! Around 10pm - 4am my mind seems to be able to think straight, I'm a one with myself and my concentration levels go through the roof.
Daytime me is like a whole other person, always going between doing multiple things at the same time, not really fully completing any task before moving onto something else.

There's just something, something about the night time, the pindrop silence, the knowing that everyone's asleep and that nothing's going to disturb me. FML, I wish my lectures were at night time too :(

[–]sea-change 0 points1 point ago

Same here. I just came across light therapy as a fix for resetting circadian rhythm: www.usa.philips.com/c/circadian/178345/cat/ but haven't done it long enough to see if it works.

[–]sanjsanj 0 points1 point ago

hmmm... I'm not sure that will help me. See, I noticed I was better at doing stuff at night first when I was 15. I had a few projects to do, and I after school I started to do them and just carried on and on into the night. It was then that I noticed I'd managed to get a lot more done at night rather than what I'd usually get done in the day.
And at this point my sleeping pattern / rhythm wasn't messed up at all, I'd always get up at 7.30 for school, and go to sleep at 11pm, and I had done that for years.

It was just that one day I stayed up late and realised how much more productive I was at night time, and I've noticed it's been true ever since, even 10 years later.

I dunno, maybe this is some kind of weird ADD, which has my mind all over the place in the day time, but very calm and focused at night?

[–]rockerode 1 point2 points ago

You may, like some of us, have DSPD

[–]EmergencyMedical 1 point2 points ago

You jut described me perfectly.

[–]matt01ss 2 points3 points ago

I've been working out consistently for years, eating a tight healthy diet for years, only drink a slight amount of caffeine, but my body still thinks a single day is about 30 hours long...

[–]KallistiEngel 2 points3 points ago

The only one I've tried is giving up caffeine for a while and that really had zero effect on my sleep habits. So if I have a lot of energy at night regardless of whether I've had 3 cups of coffee or zero, I may as well continue to drink coffee (which is my only source of caffeine).

[–]Cryptic0677 1 point2 points ago

Supposedly caffeine tolerance will make it harder to wake up though. Has something to do with adenosine receptors. Basically adenosine makes you drowsy. Caffeine works by blocking your adenosine receptors so you don't get drowsy. But as you become acclimated to high caffeine use your body just makes more adenosine receptors, so that when you aren't high on caffeine, you can have an enahnced response to the adnosine your body produced.

[–]AngelixArch 0 points1 point ago

Why the fuck would you want to be awake during the day?

[–]regomodo 1 point2 points ago

I've tried that for about a year. I tried one cup of coffee a day and some exercise now and then. Given up as exercise makes me feel even more shattered. Coffee stops me from nodding off.

[–]nebula27 0 points1 point ago

Also, no browsing the internet and no watching tv before you sleep. Apparently, it makes your brain awake.

[–]Hey_Its_That_One_Guy 43 points44 points ago

Very little sleep is had during the week.

[–]the_crumbling_temple -1 points0 points ago

Marked on RES as Troll.

[–]pskoc 0 points1 point ago

haha, that type of rage makes me laugh.

[–]ripewdecay 4 points5 points ago

My cat knocks over our glasses at 5-6am on weekends to make my boyfriend feed him then just slumbers all day after his meal in my clothing hamper. Then at night he harasses my boyfriend's grumpy cat even though 9/10 he probably stole her food after he inhaled his. one time we unintentionally fell asleep right after work without feeding him, and he knocked over the imac and shattered the screen (LCD only had a single scratch thankfully.) His personality is like Ted Bundy: charming and absolutely adorable at times, then a brilliant narcissistic madcat. I'm so glad he doesn't have opposable thumbs.

[–]evolvish 0 points1 point ago

So the screen was shattered, but only had 1 scratch?

[–]HardCorwen 5 points6 points ago

Dat side bounce. Everytime.

[–]MadeUpStuff 14 points15 points ago

The reason you are having a hard time staying away in the daytime and are more awake at night is actually somewhat complex. To start off Homo sapiens were never meant to be awake during the daylight hours. It wasn't until the "Dark ages," that men were forced to work into the morning hours, thus throwing off their Arcadian rhythms. The changes over time of the work schedule, combined with the changing of the angular momentum of the sun, have created a culture that is forcing themselves to be awake during the day and sleeping at night.

[–]mebd 18 points19 points ago

"Arcadian rhythm" bugged the piss out of me.

[–]Dave0312 14 points15 points ago

Same. Circadian dammit!

Edit: Just read username. I am a dumbass. I even believed him for a little bit.

[–]patefoisgras 2 points3 points ago

I stopped reading right before the sun's angular momentum bit and was like "ugh, too much speculation, even if it were a legitimate theory".

[–]Peuned 2 points3 points ago

Lol...the punchline was your reply.

Well done

I'm having one of those nights tonight. It's 5:40am local time and I am still wide awake. My Rx still hasn't kicked in. Plus side, someone linked to Party Cat here so I got to reread that...

[–]vaginamongerer 0 points1 point ago

Adderall is your problem. When I take one I stay up the rest of the night.

[–]cakeonaplate -1 points0 points ago

That night time cat has got to be one of the most adorable kitten gifs I have ever seen in my life.

[–]keith_weaver -1 points0 points ago

That was so friggin adorable I may never recover.

[–]accidentalprancingmt -1 points0 points ago

The way the kitten jumps on the lower gif makes it seem like it's reversed.

[–]pschic_powers -1 points0 points ago

The sideways hop/jump dance always kills me... they try to be so tough!

[–]derpness 0 points1 point ago

This perfectly depicts my damn cat at night

[–]Cornflower07 0 points1 point ago

My cats did this every night for the first six months we had them. It was a very sleepy and derpy time. @_@

[–]GuessWho_O 1 point2 points ago

You can't beat that triple jump at the end.

[–]vonno 0 points1 point ago

bah. it's too real to be funny/cute. I've lost countless nights of sleep because my kittens are thunderdome-ing around the apartment

[–]brussels4breakfast 0 points1 point ago

Oh man this is so damned funny. I watched it more times than I should have. There should be music put to this and at the end where the kitty does the three hops, the music should be.

[–]Bullshit-slinger 0 points1 point ago

You're not that cute.

[–]Kamakorn1 0 points1 point ago

yes, exactly.

[–]DeepRoot 0 points1 point ago

Yah, me too. My fix was to get a third shift job, which is where I am now. It makes a difference for us nocturnal cats... pun intended.

[–]PinkiePieCupcake 0 points1 point ago

This is what my cats do all day. Sleep it up while I'm at work and then want it to be party time when I am ready for bed.

[–]melissarose8585 2 points3 points ago

One of ours is a Maine Coon male. 20 pounds of fat and fur right on the stomach as he skitters across the bed. And he can never land gracefully.

[–]camtheshark 5 points6 points ago

My cat's only 12 lbs but somehow he lands with the pressure of Mjolnir when he does that too me.
