She had that coming.

[–]Joester 13 points14 points ago

How is this police brutality? If I kicked a police officer I would expect a WHOLE lot more than a soft kick back.

[–]the_great_ganonderp -1 points0 points ago

How is this police brutality?

Uh, what? How fucking stupid are you? This is so clearly over the line that the officer was convicted of battery.

That's police brutality. Pray tell, what constitutes police brutality for you?

[–]Gothika_47 -3 points-2 points ago

So what if i start hitting a police officer he should just stare at me? Where i live if i hit the police i would most probably get beat up pretty hard then arrested for hitting a police officer. She had it coming.

[–]the_great_ganonderp 3 points4 points ago

She had it coming.

What the fuck does this even mean? That it was the most probable outcome? That she "deserved it"? That the policeman was justified in doing it? That the law demanded it?

I suppose I have religion to blame for the third-grade level of understanding of ethics and morality that is so common around here?

Bring on the downvotes, morons. I welcome your hatred.

[–]Gothika_47 -1 points0 points ago

Yeah if you don't want to get kicked in the face don't kick people. Were you going to have a problem with that if that guy wasn't a police officer? Also don't talk about religion im an atheist. Third world contries make up third-grade level of understanding of ethics.

I have a problem with a man kicking a drunk, handcuffed woman in the head. Name your circumstances, I'm going to have a problem with it.

It was completely unnecessary.

[–]iratusamuru -1 points0 points ago

What do you believe a police officer should do with a citizen who is attacking them, then? You can't simply offer moral commandments without supplying some sort of method for living with them.

[–]the_great_ganonderp 2 points3 points ago

All that is necessary for them to keep themselves safe and do their job. He crossed that line, which is why he was convicted of battery for this incident. Punishing citizens for breaking the law is not up to the police, at least not where I'm from.

In this case, he could have stepped back two feet. Instead, he chose to kick a drunk, handcuffed woman in the head.

While I don't disagree that a kick to the face is an overreaction, the officer is obliged to do more than walk away from the situation. He has a duty to stop the violent behavior and protect the peace.

I am a vigilant and active human rights advocate, and I agree that this officer acted excessively, but anyone attacking a police officer in any way should be aware that the officer is permitted to use whatever force he/she sees as necessary to end the assault. Clearly this officer used more force than a reasonable person would deem necessary.

What kick to her head? I didn't see a thing.

[–]fruitzz 2 points3 points ago

This happened in Rhode Island! Back in 2009. The woman was arrested at a local casino (for what, I'm not sure). This footage is from a surveillance camera in the parking lot. The officer claimed self-defense because I guess he was "in fear of his life". He was convicted and sentanced (not until summer of this year) to 10 years but since he was a cop he didn't serve ANY time! Here's a link to the local news story: http://www.wpri.com/dpp/news/local_news/convicted-kicking-cop-fights-for-job

I was summoned for jury duty around the time of his trial and almost served on it! Obviously decided against going with a jury.

[–]Danna_MP 0 points1 point ago

Ten years is too fucking much for a kick in the face, maybe a fine but ten years is stupid.

[–]fruitzz 1 point2 points ago

MY BAD: He was supposed to be suspended from his job for 10 years, not serve 10 years. Apparently he also assaulted a jogger so that must have had something to do with it. Don't know exactly how that event played out though. Looking further into this now...he has actually been suspended, was convicted but did not serve any time, and will still be able receive benefits, retire and collect.

[–]fruitzz 0 points1 point ago

His name is Edward Krawetz if you lot are interested in the case at all.

[–]Lytharon 0 points1 point ago

THE REPOSTS WILL GET US ALL IN THE END. I mean, come on man. This was posted yesterday.

[–]Bgreen25 3 points4 points ago

I've actually never seen this video but I've always seen the screen shot of the foot to the head, but after seeing the attempted kick, can't really feel sorry for her.

[–]themintone 0 points1 point ago

She deserved it

[–]lebobathan 2 points3 points ago

No thanks, don't want your kick. Here, take it back.

[–]palsar 0 points1 point ago

You can't kick when you're down.

[–]MrHatebreed 0 points1 point ago

Even if you beat a cop , his duty is to immobilize you not to kick you in the fkn head ... At least it's the way the fkn Police here handles this kind of incidents...

[–]DonkeyInAGasMask 1 point2 points ago

Write Write Write, Block, Write, Kick, Write

[–]duchey 0 points1 point ago

[–]mayimayi -3 points-2 points ago

He had no right to kick her

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points ago

Define "right". Seriously.

[–]koomba26 -5 points-4 points ago

See what happens to women when they aren't in the kitchen?

[–]paulieindy -3 points-2 points ago

You aren't allowed to kick an officer. At that point they are allowed to take action without penalties. It's the law.

[–]doubleyouteef -2 points-1 points ago
