Animorphs was always a mindfuck to me as a kid. I never knew at which point of the morph I should stop finding the women attractive. It messed with my head! I think for a while I wanted to make sex with dolphins, squid, etc... Sigh.

[–]Regular7ristan 192 points193 points ago

Wat.

[–]geek_loser 66 points67 points ago

Yes.

[–]mortiphago 50 points51 points ago

so this is how the furry movement got started

[–]GarenBushTerrorist 22 points23 points ago

Pretty sure it started with Greek mythology, and then Disney took it from there.

[–]Kardlonoc 0 points1 point ago

Indeed.

[–]Torune 32 points33 points ago

[–]AudioHazard 8 points9 points ago

JOHN FREEMAN, OVER HERE

[–]easycumeasyhoe -1 points0 points ago

[–]Phyics_Son 22 points23 points ago

I never knew at which point of the morph I should stop finding the women attractive.

Who says you should stop?

[–]RockinOutCockOut 32 points33 points ago

[–]NonPermissive 11 points12 points ago

Reptiles. Fuck scalies.

RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE

[–]k-volare 11 points12 points ago

Not sure if vagina... or cloaca.

[–]DragonsAreReal210 7 points8 points ago

Definitely cloaca

[–]ZergKnight 4 points5 points ago

Doesn't matter, in the book she gives a handjob.

[–]Ian1732 6 points7 points ago

What are you talking about, you sick fuck? She's kneading a loaf.

[–]ZergKnight 3 points4 points ago

In volume 2 she kneads a loaf, in volume 1 she 'polishes her masters spear' if you know what I mean.

[–]Phyics_Son -1 points0 points ago

no, i do not know what you mean

[–]C_T_C_C 0 points1 point ago

The answer is whenever the tits are no longer discernable from the rest of its body.

[–]wavvvvves 36 points37 points ago

Holy shit, me too. Nice to know other children struggled with feelings of bestiality.

[–]zeert 5 points6 points ago

Struggled? Speak for yourself!

[–]howerrd 1 point2 points ago

Hairbrush?

[–]wavvvvves 3 points4 points ago

I got that way too quickly.

[–]ScreamingVegetable 3 points4 points ago

I know that feel bro, my friends and I would talk about which animorphs we were and plan out our lives as theses animals. One kid had a thing for bears thought that animorph animals get married like humans. He decided that he and his future bear wife would life in a cave in the Rocky Mts. and play house even though they are already married. He wasn't attracted to them the idea of marrying a bear just intrigued him.

[–]dontneedyourkarma 4 points5 points ago

Uh huh RockOutCockOut, sure. Blame an innocent children's book for your beastiality fetish.

[–]fliptonic -1 points0 points ago

Okay, sir. You can put your cock back in now.

[–]diphiminaids 0 points1 point ago

LOL @ "make sex".

[–]MrPigeonPants 46 points47 points ago

Can't stop laughing at the fact that the first morph is just sunglasses, and yet it works.

[–]diablo75 8 points9 points ago

That lion wearing the sunglasses should be the new "deal with it" mascot.

[–]sirtimid 3 points4 points ago

Wow. Never knew people viewed it the other way. I always thought it went from human to animal which would make the sunglasses the final morph.

[–]talkw 1 point2 points ago

Same here.

[–]mcoope 35 points36 points ago

More. I need more Animorphs.

[–]Zeheve 29 points30 points ago

My gift to you.

edit: this link no longer holds the books. They've taken them down :(

[–]GarenBushTerrorist 9 points10 points ago

They sure did make a lot of them.

[–]madmuffin 6 points7 points ago

That can't be legal but I am not complaining.

[–]Navenport 2 points3 points ago

I think I love you.

[–]Zeheve 1 point2 points ago

Careful. I've been hurt before.

[–]ZumaZoom 1 point2 points ago

My god, that took me WAAYY back. As I was going through each book cover I was amazed that I remembered each one up to the 34th book where I stopped reading.

[–]Chasov 3 points4 points ago

not only did i originally get into reading by reading them all when they came out (including megamorphs, chronicles and, ugh, alternamorphs) but i still have them as a collection (except alternamorphs - they were too dire to keep).

I am now introducing my little cousins to them to get them into reading.

[–]ThirdFloorNorth 1 point2 points ago

They are being reprinted! :D I was so stoked.

[–]fonster_mox 0 points1 point ago

They should be be reprinted in collections! They were great but took up a lot of space, and they were relatively short with big typeface and wasted space.

[–]aliph 0 points1 point ago

I was just going to post #34 was the last one I read... Considering the top comment is about fapping I am sure there is a Rule 34 joke in there somewhere.

[–]dez4u 0 points1 point ago

Welp, guess I'm going to be reading these for the next few months.

[–]fonster_mox 1 point2 points ago

I swear I followed this link earlier today and the PDF/Zip links worked. Now I'm going to a forum post about how they've been taken down on Scholastic's demand, even though the post is from 2010.

[–]Zeheve 1 point2 points ago

I just tested this as well and am getting the same problem. All my excitement is now dead :(

[–]TheBirdsareaGoodIdea 1 point2 points ago

You know what? Looking back, those covers were really damn weird.

[–]Lord_Nuke 3 points4 points ago

Holy. Shit.

[–]DefendsTheDownvoted 49 points50 points ago

Man, I wish that show didn't turn out so shitty... And why hasn't there been a big budget flick for that series. Loved the animorphs.

[–]Dr_Reaffirmer 32 points33 points ago

I would watch the shit out of a silver screen Animorphs.

[–]rockerode 1 point2 points ago

I never finished the series. I'm a horrible human being, so I'd love to see it as a movie.

[–]creepy-feet 14 points15 points ago

Oh man you totally should've. It was crazy. So many emotions.

[–]256colors 6 points7 points ago

I didn't either, but I recently went back and read all of them. The end is totally worth it.

[–]RustBrotherOne 2 points3 points ago

... Mainly because I will probably never get around to actually rereading the entire series would you mind telling me what happens?

[–]Zeheve 7 points8 points ago

Do not mouse over this text if you care about knowing the end of these books.

They all die in the last book. I'm not joking

[–]msteck 2 points3 points ago

Not true. It is left up ro interpretation.

[–]Hyperionides 1 point2 points ago

Oh yeah, I completely forgot that's where the Ellimist Chronicles happens. Time to go re-read that one.

[–]Ekkosangen 0 points1 point ago

Loved Ellimist Chronicles, easily my favorite.

[–]RustBrotherOne 0 points1 point ago

..... Wow. Ok then. Wow. Now I am kinda glad I didn't finish reading it as a kid... that woulda been awful.

Thanks for tellin me, seriously awful. :/

[–]TheDanSandwich 0 points1 point ago

Do these still hold up as a piece of writing? Or do I need to find my nostalgia tinted glasses?

[–]msteck 3 points4 points ago

Dude maybe im just weird, but I re-read the entire series a few years back and they were fucking awesome!! Fucking brutal, heartbreaking, funny, interesting; they are great. Although they do have quite a slump in some of the middle books before getting really good again by the end. Overall though the series is solidly good and if you enjoyed them as a kid they are worth a re-read!

[–]Ekkosangen 2 points3 points ago

You know something? For what was considered a "children's" series, Animorphs was brutal. A lot of heavy stuff happens and K.A. didn't seem to hold much back. There are some books where it's basically a warzone during the action scenes. Things died left and right in what seemed like every other book. Ellimist Chronicles even goes so far to set you up with a whole race of interesting, peaceful alien creatures only to wipe them the fuck out in a rain of ultra-sharp flechettes that tear them all apart as the main character watches in horror. Nevermind the part where the main character essentially becomes a mind-puppet of a giant planet-spanning tentacle monster.

[–]swuboo 0 points1 point ago

K.A. didn't seem to hold much back.

You do realize that with the exception of the last two books, the entire second half of the series was ghostwritten by other authors, right?

[–]Nexaz 0 points1 point ago

And then edited and fixed up by K.A. to line up with the other books.

[–]swuboo 1 point2 points ago

Sure. But providing an outline and then doing some editing is not quite the same as doing it all yourself. Undoubtedly, a great many of those brutal no-holds-barred scenes Ekkosangen refers to were conceived of and written purely by ghostwriters, and only approved by Applegate.

It wasn't a one-woman-show, and I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that some of the other participants deserve credit for the events and tones of the books they actually wrote, albeit from an outline provided to them.

[–]Hyperionides 0 points1 point ago

Pretty sure that last bit is from The Ellimist Chronicles.

[–]Ekkosangen 0 points1 point ago

Right, I did a lot of typing, my bad.

[–]nightwing2024 2 points3 points ago

I(23 year old male) am currently rereading the entire series from The Invasion, and honestly? Still good. I groan at a few parts, but the action, plot, and character development are top notch.

[–]JOBSDONE 2 points3 points ago

I cringed whenever it was a Cassie book. Pity party woohoo!

[–]wishediwasagiant 0 points1 point ago

I (21 year old male) was just about to restart reading these again, so it's nice to hear that they're still decent. The first one seemed pretty stilted but I remember that they got more complex as the series went on

[–]nightwing2024 1 point2 points ago

As K.A. Gets more comfortable with the characters and the setting, the books drastically improve.

[–]madmuffin 5 points6 points ago

Actually I can't cite the source but I remember reading somewhere years ago that Applegate was like 'Fuck TV.' and deliberately designed Ax and the Andalites to be as weird and hard to put on TV as possible, so blue centaur people with blade tails and no mouthes.

Could be just a rumor though.

[–]AceVenturaPD 1 point2 points ago

What did you expect on a budget of $12 dollars? Top tier special fx?

[–]sje46 4 points5 points ago

To be fair...it is the type of show it would be very difficult to do well, especially for kids, and on a low budget.

When you think about it, the book series was a huge epic...not just kids morphing to animals in California (uhh, spoilers, I guess), but the setting changed to various places on earth (underwater, jungle, etc), various times (revolutionary war, age of dinosaurs), and a crap-load of weird alien planets. Some took place in surreal realms that are half reality, half fantasy. Much of the value of the series was the vast, epic universe created. And you can't recreate that in a live action Nickelodeon show.

Which actually makes me wonder if it would have been better as an animated series.

[–]shatonamime 9 points10 points ago

They should have done it animated. Any time this topic comes up, I always say that. It baffles me they attempted this for live action. Live animals are expensive to use as it is. Trying to have an elephant, hawk, bear, lizard and a lion do things together? Holy shit, their insurance was probably half the budget.

They could have had 13 episodes produced easily, for the same price they paid for the first 20. Seems like a worse investment, but the series would have worked better and probably gotten 3-4 seasons.

[–]julia-sets 2 points3 points ago

Oh, god, an animated Animorphs series? Somewhere in the past my 12-year-old self is having a heart attack. That would've been awesome.

People talk about how dark the Hunger Games is, and it is for sure, but Animorphs was my first introduction to some dark shit, and because it did it so gradually it was even more horrific to see where those kids ended up.

[–]NoGimmicks 9 points10 points ago

ALL Animorph books right here:

http://animorphsforum.com/ebooks/

Rereading them to relive my childhood. Up to number fitty right now.

[–]betweengreenandblack 5 points6 points ago

Thank you. I saw your link, and immediately knew which line to go to. That chilling, finalizing line:

"Ram the Blade ship."

Shit, nothing I have read since is as good as this.

[–]throwawaywalrus 2 points3 points ago

Fucking chills...

[–]Carodee7 1 point2 points ago

You made my day! I did not know this site existed

[–]NoGimmicks 6 points7 points ago

They are also re-printing the books with fancy new covers too. In case anyone on Reddit isn't a pirate.

[–]Rendonsmug 6 points7 points ago

I heard they were updating the popular culture references... do you know how extensive this is?

[–]HappyDays7 2 points3 points ago

They should get the original model for Jake to model as Future Jake.

[–]sje46 0 points1 point ago

And these guys are reviewing every animorphs book.

[–]Elismo 0 points1 point ago

Must find this on my computer.

[–]Cash5YR 8 points9 points ago

Great. I'm now the guy cackling to himself in the middle of the bar, with no one else with him. I don't know if I need more people on Reddit, or to stop drinking.

[–]OsamaBinLollin 76 points77 points ago

Upvote for "transformizzle".

[–]theleftrightnut 80 points81 points ago

You viewed the picture too!

[–]Rentashark -5 points-4 points ago

Me three! .. I'll show myself out.. Transformizzle is pretty funny though..

[–]froasian 4 points5 points ago

grammar nazizzle here. It should actually be "transizzle"

[–]Suno 7 points8 points ago

I used to go to the library just to flip through the pages of those books to see the transformations on the bottom right hand corner.

[–]Geothst 10 points11 points ago

How on earth did you do this? I always thought the artists drew each cover by hand. Is there computer software that does this automatically? Insert picture of a lion, insert picture of snoop dog lion, output ANIMORPHS!

[–]blueberryyumyum96[S] 37 points38 points ago

I drew this by hand.

[–]fortrines 10 points11 points ago

[–]SnoogleGoo 5 points6 points ago

Welcome to the internet, buddy

Links actual website instead of torrent

[–]Geothst 2 points3 points ago

Ermahgerd! Alright I deserved that. But when were those books published? Did photoshop exist back then?

[–]TeaBeforeWar 7 points8 points ago

Photoshop's been around since 1990, and Animorphs didn't start until 1996.

And yeah, some of the covers did need a lot of drawn work (digitally painted, though, more likely than by hand), while others were totally just stretching and blending in Photoshop. You'd probably be able to do much more sophisticated blends these days, though, just because of better machines.

[–]Rawrjumping 11 points12 points ago

You don't need photoshop to alter photos.

[–]tosss 9 points10 points ago

That was clearly done with magic.

[–]iceblender 6 points7 points ago

The second to last lion is literally a lion with glasses on

[–]rand0mnewb 5 points6 points ago

Dear god i hope Snoop Dogg sees this and endorses it, it is full of win.

[–]sl2773 2 points3 points ago

I used to love those books. I never read them, but I liked to flip through the pages and watch the picture in the corner morph. Awesome books.

[–]circle_ 5 points6 points ago

The days of Snoop Dogg are rover.

[–]andrewsj1 2 points3 points ago

why didn't he turn in to a doberman...........

[–]bigtaterman 4 points5 points ago

Because he just changed his name to Snoop Lion.

[–]andrewsj1 1 point2 points ago

how long ago did this happen? i need to recalculate my internet handycap

[–]meonhere 2 points3 points ago

today

[–]constantvariables 2 points3 points ago

He should probably be a dog in the middle there.

[–]blueberryyumyum96[S] 21 points22 points ago

[–]constantvariables 2 points3 points ago

I love you.

[–]blueberryyumyum96[S] 2 points3 points ago

Thanks babe love you too

[–]unsurebutwilling -2 points-1 points ago

So you know that video, know that his name is snoop doggy dogg, and not snoop liony lion, yet you made him into one?

[–]johnf420 5 points6 points ago

No, literally his name is Snoop Lion. Google it.

[–]unsurebutwilling 0 points1 point ago

well....damn.

[–]ohjbird3 0 points1 point ago

Everyone here is high as hell and laughing from this. Consider my 1 upvote to be many. Just... believe it.

[–]chriswalkenspal 1 point2 points ago

Goddamn that lion with sunglasses

[–]aninnerglow 4 points5 points ago

Animorphs was the best book series ever. For this, you deserve my upvote.

[–]Jack564 11 points12 points ago

Why the fuck would he transform into a lion and not a dogg

[–]msahani 62 points63 points ago

and... that there is how you overdose on marijuana

[–]CochMaestro 1 point2 points ago

[–]Jack564 5 points6 points ago

Thank You for pointing this out I stand corrected. I guess i don't spend enough time on the internet like i thought i did, i still think it's a pretty stupid decision though.

[–]TimesWasting 2 points3 points ago

I thought so at first too, but it makes sense. Did you read the article?

[–]PsychoNerd91 3 points4 points ago

I don't like the new name. It doesn't have a nice ring to it. However, I like the thought of him making music that "kids and grandparents can listen to". It would be interesting to see how it sounds and if people embrace it.

[–]HappyDays7 2 points3 points ago

Yeah, I think he should have dropped the snoop part as well. Something catchier. But whatever, he's the lion, who am I to argue.

[–]eric-tile 2 points3 points ago

Is it sad that reading that article immediately made me think of the Power Rangers movie?

[–]Jeroknite 0 points1 point ago

I bet he was high when he made that decision.

[–]CocoSavege 3 points4 points ago

Other possible reartistings considered before reggae:

  • Well Tempered Dogg: Classical in the Baroque style

  • Snoop Cakewalk: Ragtime

  • Snoopmau5: Pop house

  • Snoop, Lake, Palmer, Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe: Prog Rock

  • Snoop Urungus: Costumed Heavy Metal Sci-Fi Parody

  • Blind Lemon Dogg: Blues

  • Blind Melon Dogg: Alternative rock

  • My Snoopy Valentine: Shoegazer

  • Snooping Heads: New Wave

  • Godspeed Snoop! Black Emperor! (né Godspeed Snoop Black Emperor!): Post-rock

  • Snoopgarden: Grunge

[–]lifetrout 1 point2 points ago

This is fucking amazing.

[–]gonzowisdom 0 points1 point ago

Holy shit! I completely forgot a out Animorphs. I loved those books as an angsty 10 year old.

[–]paradiselost93 0 points1 point ago

He should morph into a dog. Makes more sense

[–]bigtaterman 6 points7 points ago

Except for the fact that he just changed his name to Snoop Lion.

[–]paradiselost93 2 points3 points ago

Oh god. Is it bad I had to look that up to confirm?

[–]Esplin9466 0 points1 point ago

He will die like the rest. We will reign supreme.

[–]Bacti 1 point2 points ago

Brilliant

[–]shellybellywho 1 point2 points ago

I personally prefer the middle one.

[–]lisabadcat 1 point2 points ago

How is apple not suing him exactly?

[–]TheEthalea 1 point2 points ago

I would read the shit out of this.

[–]jacobmhkim -1 points0 points ago

This is the first time I actually saw something posted on Facebook before Reddit.

[–]AintGettinDatKarma 0 points1 point ago

I want to re-read animorphs, but I'm afraid that if I do and it's not as good as I remember it, it's going to ruin a lot of good memories.

[–]Paragade 1 point2 points ago

Trust me, it's as good, possibly even better than you remember it

[–]julia-sets 1 point2 points ago

Right in the nostalgia...

[–]megustaragecomics69 1 point2 points ago

I love how the second last transformation is the complete lion but with shades

[–]zecmo 1 point2 points ago

this is one of the greatest things I've ever seen.

[–]LesEnfantsTerribles 0 points1 point ago

But then who was dogg?

[–]chambere 1 point2 points ago

I CANNOT UPVOTE THIS ENOUGH

[–]Diettimboslice 1 point2 points ago

I'll upvote anything Animorphs. Anything.

[–]VirtualAnarchy 0 points1 point ago

The transformizzle? I about lost it!

[–]D1M1R 0 points1 point ago

The one in the middle resembles Jesse Pinkman to me.

[–]gabetron0 1 point2 points ago

The transformizzle is complizzle.

[–]WateryPenisButter -1 points0 points ago

Can someone tell me what the hell the book actually is? Does it say something like:

He turns into a quarter lion.

Now a half-lion.

Now 3-quarter lion.

Now a full lion.

The end.

[–]StallordD 2 points3 points ago

You never read the Animorphs series?

[–]strican 1 point2 points ago

But... that's a cat!

[–]HerrSpare 0 points1 point ago

Am I a lion? I've never thought of myself as a lion, although I do have a mighty rizzoar.

[–]y0Ur9r4NDm4 0 points1 point ago

Haha the only reason I bought these books were to watch the flipnote morph on the bottom of the page

[–]TheBirdsareaGoodIdea 0 points1 point ago

Did anyone else lose interest in the story really quickly and just flick the pages to see the little transformation picture at the corner of the page?

[–]Cupcake_in_Acid 0 points1 point ago

[–]kuba_10 0 points1 point ago

This made me remember of another children's book some of you should remember. Does the name "The Doomspell" by Cliff McNish sound familiar? I read the first 50 pages and concluded that the author must have been forcing himself to write anything. Kept me away from books for several months.

[–]Mrninjamonkey 0 points1 point ago

I never read any of these books, I just liked to flip through the book to look at the little morph animation in the bottom right corner.

[–]Crazii-P 0 points1 point ago

I would think he would become a DAWG

[–]TheAmericanDiablo 0 points1 point ago

Why the fuck isn't he turning in to a dog?

[–]moosepoints 1 point2 points ago

The second to last one is hands down the best.

[–]HackTheRipper666 1 point2 points ago

I would buy that book

[–]umatillacowboy 0 points1 point ago

Number 3 is Guy Fierri , AmIRite?

[–]Lizardizzle -1 points0 points ago

Should have turned in to a Lizard, dizzle.

[–]theNerevarine 1 point2 points ago

listening to snoop dog, friend makes a joke about snoop lion, google snoop lion, understand, go on reddit, see this, show this to friend....

thanks universe [7]

[–]meonhere -2 points-1 points ago

ERMAHGERD ERNIMERPHS!!

[–]bigpunksloth -2 points-1 points ago

niggermorph

[–]Slippyy -4 points-3 points ago

So you have Snoop Dogg turning into a cat. Not a dog, but a cat.

That's fair.

[–]BoardStoner 5 points6 points ago

I guess you haven't heard. Snoop Dogg is no more. He is now officially Snoop Lion.
