Ask for or provide support with depression related issues.

We are a self-post only community. Pictures, articles, videos and the like must be linked in a text submission that fully explains their therapeutic value. If you have something relevant to depression that is more scientific or philosophical, or which could be provocative or potentially triggering, please consider posting it instead to:

/r/psychology
/r/mentalhealth
/r/suicidology
/r/philosophy

  • This is a place for support. Abuse, pro-suicide comments, tough love, discussion of suicide or self harm methods, religious proselytizing, trolling, or incitement to self harm or violence in comment or pm is strictly forbidden and can result in a ban. If you see anything like this in a post, comment, or PM please message the moderators.

  • We are not a hotline. There is no guarantee of an immediate response, and there are times when this subreddit is relatively quiet. This does not mean no one cares.

  • /r/depression is a place of peer support and a non-judgmental environment. While we encourage our members to discuss what’s worked for them, please refrain from diagnosing others or advocating specific treatments. Courses of treatment and diagnosis needs to be discussed with a medical professional.

  • If you're here to help, please do so by responding to our OPs, not by "advertising" yourself as a helper. Anything that is essentially saying rather than showing that you're here to help will be removed.

  • If you see a post, comment, or PM that you feel is breaking any of these rules PLEASE MESSAGE US. We cannot help if we do not know there is a problem.

  • If your post is moderated, please feel free to change it so as to be sub-reddit appropriate and re-submit it.

Please also feel free to come over to /r/suicidewatch. While it is not a hotline and cannot provide emergency assistance, it is a helpful and supportive community for those people struggling with suicidal thoughts.

Need to just say something? Try talking to the nice redditors at /r/OffMyChest/.

I'm the opposite. Lost all my rage and anger. And I used to have it. Just nothing left. Spent I guess.

I actually did this at a street corner last Saturday. There were a lot of cars honking.

I can sympathize, my work place is very stressful and my boss on occasion is known to verbally harass people. Most frustrating.
