This one is the photoshopped one

[–]nuinbot 13 points14 points ago

I have this in my wallpaper rotation. Khajiit Mage!

[–]sexual_pasta 5 points6 points ago

"Other mages may claim to be as good as magic as J'zargo, but they cannot be as charming as he. Thus, J'zargo always comes out on top."

[–]Blinkinlincoln 1 point2 points ago

he died in my game... or i lost him for good. I was so sad...

[–]Enceladus_Salad 2 points3 points ago

This is what happens when you leave the catnip next to an electrical outlet.

[–]CowFu 39 points40 points ago

WARNING: A handful of these are NSFW (Naked butts, nipples, and a couple panty shots).

[–]rjp0008 6 points7 points ago

Thanks bro! You should bold your comment so more people are warned!

[–]jhc1415 9 points10 points ago

Wow, all those pictures are very well done. Where did you find all them?

[–]Xiphcreature 12 points13 points ago

Going by the resolutions on some of those images, I'd wager a guess that many of them are from /r/wallpapers, you'll often find a lot of wallpaper album dumps there if you're interested. :)

[–]jaynoj 3 points4 points ago

[–]oohlookatthat 2 points3 points ago

Do you by any chance have a download link for that collection so lazy folks like me can get them all at once?

[–]Admiral_Cuntfart 2 points3 points ago

Downthemall is your friend

[–]Leverpastej 2 points3 points ago

Click the download button on imgur to download the entire album.

[–]falling2fast 0 points1 point ago

DON'T DO IT!!!! THERE'S A CAGE VIRUS IN THERE!!!!!

[–]Goldmattress 42 points43 points ago

Iceland is like the Pornstar of /r/EarthPorn

[–]wolfdogrhit 6 points7 points ago

Nah man Norway

[–]zuperpretty 5 points6 points ago

I second this. It wasn't until I discovered Earthporn that I learned that nature we consider standard and normal here in Norway, is beautiful and amazing in the rest of the world.

[–]cysun 20 points21 points ago

It's not photoshopped but I think it's worth mentioning that this image is a composite of images taken during a longer period of time.

[–]whats8 0 points1 point ago

My stance is that, if the picture shows it in a why that can't be seen with human eyes, it doesn't belong here. This, for instance, would belong in /r/ExposurePorn.

[–]SuperCow1127 14 points15 points ago

But all pictures are just composed with varying exposure lengths. Even the fastest camera is still grabbing light more slowly than the human eye. Without longer exposures on a camera, you couldn't photograph things like stars or lightning at all.

[–]Slothfrenzy 37 points38 points ago

The volcanic ash creates friction as it rises which creates static electricity which is what causes the discharges of lightning. Nature never ceases to leave me in awe. What a dull life people must live when they can't appreciate the incredible mechanics of the world around them.

[–]DeathToPennies 13 points14 points ago

I think knowing the mechanics allows us to appreciate it more. I mean sure, there's a sense of awe in watching lightning in a volcanic ash cloud, but knowing how it works unlocks a whole new thing to behold. Knowing the universe around us, realizing that everything started as a set of raw elements, and eventually became all that it is... I find that knowledge more amazing than pretty much anything else. We are the universe becoming self-aware. Sure, looking at it is breath-taking, but knowing it? That's amazing.

[–]Xfacter 13 points14 points ago

I have a feeling Slothfrenzy forgot an apostrophe and a 't'

[–]DeathToPennies 5 points6 points ago

I was actually really worried about that while writing this. This is why we proofread, people.

[–]Slothfrenzy 2 points3 points ago

I completely agreed there is an infinite level of complexity around us if you have the patience to see it. This is the exact reason that I wish there was more study on the human brain. There is so much to learn about this organ but so little being done.

[–]emikochan 1 point2 points ago

to be fair a bunch is being done, but it's not easy to study, since everyone has a different brain you're just looking at parallels and vague areas. The progress is pretty good, just not very publicised

[–]Slothfrenzy 0 points1 point ago

Oh man, sorry I only just realised that I wrote "can" instead of "can't" sorry for the missunderstanding.

[–]DeathToPennies 0 points1 point ago

It's alright, dude. No hard feelings.

[–]emikochan 2 points3 points ago

knowing how it works doesn't make it any less awe inspiring, makes it more so imo.

[–]Slothfrenzy 1 point2 points ago

It seems that there are two loosely defined types of thinking in the world. Some people will walk past an ants nest and not think anything of it because they see it as being less important than themselves. Some people will inquire closer into the ants nest and find that ants are quite beautiful in how they organize and construct there nest and how they allocate jobs to gather food etc. I try and be like the person who appreciates the small things, life is so much more interesting that way.

[–]emikochan 0 points1 point ago

Yeah I appreciate all things, all of this reality is awesome.

[–]Slothfrenzy 1 point2 points ago

I agree, reality is awesome.

[–]el_pinata 2 points3 points ago

What a dull life people must live when they can appreciate the incredible mechanics of the world around them.

Seriously?

[–]destrucci 1 point2 points ago

I think he a word. can > can't ?

[–]el_pinata 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, figured as much. The different two characters can make, eh?

[–]destrucci 0 points1 point ago

Exactly!

[–]Slothfrenzy 0 points1 point ago

All im saying is that knowledge enriches life. if you walk around just thinking about some inconsequential bullshit like whats on tv or what a celebrity thinks then your wasting your life. life seems so dull and predictable when you dont stop to wonder about the natural world and the incredibly complex systems which are constantly in motion around us. I didn't want to sound condescending or say that people who dont understand the mechanics of the world are stupid or wasting their life just because they dont posses knowledge like others do, i just think that people should always strive to understand.

[–]el_pinata 1 point2 points ago

I feel you. I think, though, that my expand(ed/ing) knowledge of the universe has not impugned upon my childlike fascination with things. Knowing NACA airfoil configurations and how to calculate an angle of attack doesn't change the fact that I look at 45 tons of Boeing 747 slicing through the air with any less awe. Also, I found myself drunk before responding to this so we're probably saying the same shit. Cheers.

[–]Slothfrenzy 0 points1 point ago

Cheers to you too.

[–]SOncredible 6 points7 points ago

There you go Thank me later

[–]kristinn 5 points6 points ago

My wives father lives about 100 meters from this waterfall (it's called Skógafoss).

http://inapcache.boston.com/universal/site_graphics/blogs/bigpicture/eyja_04_19/e08_23067193.jpg

It's right beneath the glaciar and the volcano so their house and their belongings were all full af ash.

[–]mijau 5 points6 points ago

This was the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull in Iceland right? Man after that project I did on the volcano I still cannot remember how to spell the name.

[–]amrall 4 points5 points ago

It's correctly spelled. Congratulations. (Actually, it is Eyjafjallajökull, but close enough)

[–]aheadwarp9 4 points5 points ago

I don't think NASA is in the habit of photoshopping the images on their APOD page.

[–]leondz 3 points4 points ago

They actually are, but only when it comes to altering colours or creating composites for the sake of clarifying something that is already there - and they usually declare it in the image's description. An example would be adjusting a beautiful pattern in UV to be in the visible spectrum.

[–]aheadwarp9 1 point2 points ago

Well sure, but they are very forthcoming about that. They wouldn't alter an image's appearance or composite two photos together without telling people though.

[–]RudegarWithFunnyHat 0 points1 point ago

to destroy the Ring of Power in the only place it can be destroyed - the fires of Mount Doom!

[–]iamarturobandini 2 points3 points ago

You really expect me to believe that text just appeared at the bottom by magic? Obvious shop, can't believe people would fall for that.

[–]combustible 1 point2 points ago

wizard duel.

[–]KarmaBo55 1 point2 points ago

i suddenly really want to see a volcano erupt in real life

[–]MooProwler 0 points1 point ago

You have to admit there were amazing photo opportunities to be had amidst all of it. http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/04/more_from_eyjafjallajokull.html - For more awesome photos

Edit: Misword

[–]Calypte 0 points1 point ago

Why was it a tragedy? I thought the volcano was in the middle of nowhere and nobody died. I didn't follow the news about it too closely though.

[–]MooProwler 0 points1 point ago

I think I worded that wrong, haha. It caused one heck of a mess, though.

[–]Erik02 0 points1 point ago

Goku is in the center of all this!

[–]MrRicey 1 point2 points ago

What's up with the orange lighting? Is it just the colour from the lava reflecting? Looks amazing

[–]MeatLord 0 points1 point ago

Need to get a scientist on this right away.

[–]-Zm4- -1 points0 points ago

Even thought it's not photoshopped but you can easily add those lightnings through photoshop on any image...

[–]cbs5090 2 points3 points ago

The plural for lightning is lightning.

[–]Stebbib -1 points0 points ago

It's easier to just take a photograph, since there are actually lighting striking there.

welcome to 1999

[–]tonyh322 1 point2 points ago

It's called a dirty thunderstorm. When a thunderstorm is produced within a volcanic eruption. One of the coolest looking naturally occurring phenomenon in my opinion.

[–]MidnightCladNoctis 0 points1 point ago

Daaamn nature,you scary!

[–]christophers80 1 point2 points ago

Falleg mynd!!

[–]iongantas 0 points1 point ago

I feel we should have more special names for combo-phenomena like this, e.g. tornainbow. I don't know what we'd call this one though.

[–]Dinosaursaregr8 0 points1 point ago

[–]WhatTheFhtagn 0 points1 point ago

Shit, someone opened an Oblivion Gate.

[–]Haddaway 0 points1 point ago

Well how did you find out?

[–]brownliquid 1 point2 points ago

Anyone know where I can get a HQ version of this?

[–]ebag-alpha 6 points7 points ago

Found a 1600x1200 size version of it over TinEye.

[–]brownliquid 2 points3 points ago

Nice! Thanks a lot!

[–]leondz 1 point2 points ago

Did you know that Google Images provides TinEye-type functionality now? Just click on the little camera symbol in the Google Images search bar.

[–]Sappharos 1 point2 points ago

Even quicker: drag the image into the image search bar.

[–]jyjjy 0 points1 point ago

Even quicker: install the plugin

[–]Sappharos 0 points1 point ago

I recognise defeat.

[–]uspatentspending 1 point2 points ago

That's some real wrath of God type stuff right there.

[–]AzureDrag0n1 0 points1 point ago

I have this as my wallpaper.

[–]drdragos -1 points0 points ago

Why should it be photoshopped? I you put a long enough exposure you can get this image pretty easy.
