When did trailers stop using this formula and switch to the modern style? This is from 1999 which doesn't seem that old, but I haven't seen a trailer like this in ages.

13 years ago man, we're old

Keep fighting the good fight. But sadly, this is reddit where people don't understand art, don't want to understand art, and are going to tell you how worthless art is compared to their engineering degree.

[–]BobbyDash -2 points-1 points ago

Unfortunately true. The framework is here, the subscribers just prefer to stay ignorant of the concept of the sub.

[–]AndrewKemendo 5 points6 points ago

OP is artist and described the medium elsewhere.

[–]Acronomicon 0 points1 point ago

What's wrong with OP's?

[–]TicTokCroc 1 point2 points ago

[–]Preflash_Gordon 1 point2 points ago

It's a muscular Hannibal Lecter! :-) Seriously, this is awesome.

r/Art needs to stop celebrating the tracing and copying of photos.

[–]judgmental_ass 12 points13 points ago

You need to stop telling other people what to like.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points ago

Imagine actually being impressed with someone copying or tracing a photo.

[–]Acronomicon 0 points1 point ago

Actually, in another thread OP stated it took him three days and

I wouldn't have put forth that much effort and suffered through carpal tunnel for a tracing.

[–]Doobie69 0 points1 point ago

[–]ComicBookBeauty 1 point2 points ago

it looks like an image of bane photoshopped onto a wire bound sketch pad to me.

[–]Jason207 2 points3 points ago

Look closely at the mask and the hand. Great drawing, but you can see some problem areas.

[–]BobbyDash -2 points-1 points ago

OP, you deleted your comment that this is in response to so feel free to recount what you said when reading this.

This is constructive criticism. Criticism of this subreddit and its subscribers.

If someone paints a picture of a landscape, is it merely a replication since the Earth is the true artist? If a mother gives birth to a child, would any portrait of that baby be a replication since the mother is the original creator?

You're being obtuse and grandiose and I think you know it. No, it isn't replication, it's interpretation. Your drawing is an attempt at exact replication of someone else's image. Someone else's art.

You can render with pencil very well, I'm not trying to take that from you. I do not doubt that you drew it free hand. How about applying that to your own original concepts? If you absolutely must draw Bane, why not come up with your own re-imagining of him? You have plenty of resources at your disposal. Have a friend model for you to get the lighting and composition you want. Brush up on anatomy to exaggerate his muscle structure appropriately. Be creative. Be original.

There is nothing wrong with copying something like this as an exercise. However, it doesn't belong at the top of r/Art. Some people expect the guidelines to be followed so that we can find and discuss art, not everyone's pencil rendering exercises.

What a total and complete dick move.

Re-posting that guy's defense against your jealous and petty onslaught of menstrual whining... even after he decided he didn't want it up there anymore.

He was new here and you got him to delete his post... you feel better now?

Asshole.

I'm ashamed to be in a community with you, unsubbing.

[–]pablo_shitcasso[M] -3 points-2 points ago

Asshole.

Personal insults are against the rules of this subreddit.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points ago

That's incredible!

[–]IamDa5id -1 points0 points ago

Wow... That's really nice.

Good job.

[–]Thedeadmilkman -1 points0 points ago

You merely adopted the art.
