Me too. I think the sequels were disappointing, they came as the 3D platformer was transitioning, and they felt clunky. We could always use another open world game, this time with a gothic atmosphere.

I think Blood Omen was one of the first games that gave me that weird feeling of being interested in the world and the narrative, but kinda bummed out by the fact I could barely interact with it. It was basically a zelda clone (and a competent one) but that disconnect between 16bit game mechanics and the potentially good and interesting world lying under it killed it for me. Soul Reaver felt the same way (it basically did the same thing, but as a 64 era Zelda clone instead). But the environments looked even more lifeless due to the huge limitations that 3d worlds imposed at the time.

Also, the game was one of the worst offenders in the genre of "bunch of guys queue up around you waiting for their turn to attack" if I remember correctly.

A fantasy world seen from the side of the vampires could be an interesting thing to explore, especially now that the technology and the engines are more up to the task. But I don't think it really needs to be a remake or a sequel of Legacy of Kain.

I too became a lore fag after this game.

Me and my bros actually had the whole Legacy of Kain series and played the shit outta it. In elementary/middle school, I would doodle the different vampire emblems and I'd make my own emblems and write fanfiction and during that time I was roleplaying on different forums, so I'd base characters on Raziel and stuff like that.

I remember when I rediscovered the wiki for the Kain series, and finally fucking put the entire timeline in understandable order.

Last I heard there was going to be a (remake?) of the game. I can't remember if it was a remake, reboot or a sequel.

Either way, I think there's more to come.

The sequel will never happen, nor should it without Amy. She works for Naughty Dog now, and Square-Enix owns the rights to LoK. Does anyone really think they are up to the task of bringing this game back to the glory it once had? Hell no.

Blood Omen, Blood Omen 2, Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2 and Soul Reaver Defiance.

Story is not finished though. Blood Omens were about how Kain became a vampire and how he became king. The world becomes corrupted, because his refusal to sacrifice himself.

Soul Reaver is about one of his officers that seeks revenge (you play as Raziel, the guy in the screenshot). The world was tainted beyond recognition.

Soul Reaver 2 is similar, but plays a bit with a concept of was really the bad guy. You travel back in time seeking revenge, but origin of the corruption starts to be apparent.

Defiance makes you finally fight the real enemy, but because there is time travel involved, your victory is bitter sweet. It ended with something of a cliffhanger. You don't know if your actions changed anything, or were they still bound to the wheel of faith.

and both series were completed with Defiance, that allowed control of both Kain and Raziel

If you liked these games, you should try Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the original Xbox.

I'm not even joking. It had it's little problems, but was actually a pretty good game with similar mechanics to Soul Reaver.

For a lot of people including myself it was LOK's story and not its mechanics that made it such a great series of games. Buffy just doesn't compare in that department.

I have been looking for this game for YEARS

Back story: My brother had this game when i was young ~10 years old and he played it and then i played some of it, but then he gave that game to his friend to which he never got back to which i got the game myself and he told me to return it because he would get the game back but never did. maybe he did this because i was too young for it but i doubt it because i played many violent games and seen movies and it not matter

There were some sequels, but I agree draining souls with some next gen graphics would be intense. I noticed that Square Enix has been taking over some Edios Interactive titles though. Anybody have any info on what's up with that? I'd appreciate it. (:

I spend a good amount of my childhood playing these games. I played one of them a while ago after I played them as a child and realized the graphics were severely dated, despite all the fun I had with the games.

So I completely agree with you that this series NEEDS a next gen sequel.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he Get impaled on the physical soul reaver, make amends with Kain, and ultimately die in Legacy of Kain: Defiance?

Aside from that I always preferred Raziel over Kain, for (as shallow as this sounds) their aesthetics. Raziel just always looked cooler, ate people's souls, and had a glowy blade. Naturally younger me always held a bias for him.

I think the story is fine how it ended. I don't want to see another installation of this game. Maybe an HD remake or something, but keep my memories of Raziel in tact.
