Pretty sure it is from The Shining.

[–]Gravesh 6 points7 points ago

I am sad to say I never had a chance to see it.

[–]defaultbydefault 10 points11 points ago

It's a classic. You should check it out sometime.

I kind of feel that way about the "salary requirements" crap too. I just want whatever I can get in this economy, don't make me bullshit a number.

I wish I worked harder at my internship and sought more feedback. My internship was based on a salary of $62400 a year. Right now I'm working retail trying to find something related to my degree. :(

Some internships are slave labor. Mine paid amazingly. I got 2600 twice a month and an initial signing bonus of something like $1500. Anyway in 10 weeks I made about $15,000. You should have seen all the interns on the first payday. One got it all in cash and went to Best Buy to buy a new computer. Pulled out a stack of $100s and the cashier asked where he worked and he's like "I'm a crack dealer."

[–]YesIamaWizard 1 point2 points ago

Where did you intern?

[–]flip314 4 points5 points ago

...for a crack dealer.

[–]tacojohn48 2 points3 points ago

Capital One. You wanna know what was in my wallet? Money

[–]believe_me 1 point2 points ago

You fucked up

[–]tacojohn48 1 point2 points ago

My manager said he'd give me a good reference and is currently recommending me for a position in a different area of Capital One. I'm just not allowed to be a statistician there for now.

Worst I ever had was 5 people all at once for about 1 hr and 20 min.

[–]Sternenplasma 3 points4 points ago

Sounds like a pornstar interview.

[–]tacojohn48 1 point2 points ago

I was interviewing with a company in my city and they gave me the option of just doing a phone interview or coming in in person as this was just supposed to be a quick introductory interview. I opted to go in person and after a few minutes things were going great and the interviewer said he was going to grab a couple people from the team to join in the interview. Came back with 4 more people. I still haven't heard back from them.

[–]Kangaroo__Court 1 point2 points ago

I've had interviews where they bring in more people which makes me think its not always a great sign.

Best of luck!

I am in technical sales. I feel the same way when I have revised a quote 5 times for a customer. It doesn't register with them that every time I have to re-engineer their project it takes hours of my time. I recently just gave up on a customer...it wasn't worth the effort to get their business anymore. They are just too stupid to own communications equipment. They are just going to have to find some other way to fuck up at their job.

[–]tacojohn48 1 point2 points ago

I had a 3 part 1.5 hour phone interview the other day. Yuck.

[–]Dalzeil 1 point2 points ago

Sometimes I think the interviews last that long because they just don't want to go back to work.

Think about it - they're getting paid a certain amount to be there. And all they have to do is ask stupid questions to an overdressed nervous dude. It's probably easier than the rest of their job is.

[–]dhrenzen 1 point2 points ago

My current job had a 5 part, 4 hour interview. Top that.

[–]easilydistra- 1 point2 points ago

I was called back for three interviews at a company, each for 1 to 2 hours, one of which was on Christmas eve, and was then informed that while I was an excellent candidate, another person was slightly more qualified. Fuckers, tell me that at the god damn start.

[–]econguy 1 point2 points ago

Two rounds lasting three hours? Try six lasting eight.

I didn't even get the job.

[–]obi1ken[S] 0 points1 point ago

damn, what kind of position was that for?

[–]chatman1000 1 point2 points ago

I did this for a interview at mcdonalds( I NEED MONEY FOR A NEW LAPTOP, i whas quite desperate to get any job) but i basicaly told him i whas in it for the money. got hired, probably wont work with a office job.

[–]floydwiley 1 point2 points ago

I'm working my way up through my company and every time I move up a notch I have to go through a longer interview with more people. In the last month I've been in three hours worth of interviews. By the end I was just trying to think of funny anecdotes that were relatively short. If it got them laughing it seemed like enough of a punctuation mark that we could move on to the next question.
