Hey, at least she's got trigger discipline.

[–]dcmasta 1 point2 points ago

Nothing says Gangsta like hair curlers and a shotgun.

[–]kefka5150 2 points3 points ago

That isn't a shotgun, it is a High Point 995 9mm Carbon (it could also be .45 acp).

Thank you for the correction gun connoisseur.

....?

[–]Buddychrist08[S] -5 points-4 points ago

Of course it's a $150 Walmart shotgun!

Probably was on sale!

[–]ozone_00 2 points3 points ago

It's a pistol caliber carbine.

[–]kefka5150 2 points3 points ago

High Point 995.

You sure sound happy pointing out how someone can't afford an expensive firearm. I suppose it'd be just dandy if she were holding a 3,000 dollar FN SCAR?

Here's my problems with her gun handling

Trigger discipline involves keeping the finger completely clear of the trigger guard until ready to fire

You always have both hands on your firearm at any point of using the weapon unless it has been triple checked, visually confirmed, and safety on, with chamber open.

You don't go get your shotgun while curling your hair to make a "cool Facebook photo"

And that isn't a kitchen... Just kidding I actually cook more than my wife does

Trigger discipline involves keeping the finger completely clear of the trigger guard until ready to fire

There is no correct resting position for your finger when not on the trigger. The primary consideration is that it is not on the trigger.

Even if she did have her finger on the trigger, this would only be bad if she had not checked that the gun was loaded, and was around others who did not know if the gun was loaded or not.

triple checked, visually confirmed

So check 4 times? 0_o

You need to check once. An empty chamber is unmistakable. Checking additional times may be a good habit to place the paranoid at ease, but its hardly a requirement. That is, until you've left it unattended, at which point it needs to be checked again.

You always have both hands on your firearm at any point of using the weapon unless it has been triple checked, visually confirmed, and safety on, with chamber open.

You claim you don't like that she's doing this, but you have absolutely no clue if she did check or not. Assuming she cleared the gun, then this is perfectly fine.

You don't go get your shotgun while curling your hair to make a "cool Facebook photo"

Hair rollers can stay in your hair for a significant amount of time, depending on the specific method you are using and how much curl you are going after. Up to an hour or more. This is not an active ongoing process that she interrupted just to grab a quick pic of her new shotgun. Its no different then putting a hat on and taking it off an hour later.

I'm not even sure this is a shotgun... if it is its probably a .410 or 28 - which does almost nothing to defend you from anything.

[–]Buddychrist08[S] 0 points1 point ago

A .410 is still a shotgun...

[–]fgriglesnickerseven 0 points1 point ago

yes, but its not going to knock down an intruder like a 12 ga or a 9 mm will.

Not that as an intruder these are the things you will consider. But if you're in a gun fight with that POS you're gonna have a bad time.

[–]Buddychrist08[S] 0 points1 point ago

I use a rem 870 express magnum for home defense and a smith and Wesson 5906 9mm parabellum for personal carry.

I still say if you get hit with a .410 slug your gonna have a bad time
