I think primitive_screwhead is right, it looks to be snot. If a person is shot in the eye, the force of the bullet would likely compress the sinuses directly below and above the eye that is shot. This explains why the mucus looks to be coming from the man's left nostril and not the right. The right sinuses were not affected, but the left ones were. Basically, the snot was squeezed out of his noggin.

        I can't see the video (on iPad), do his eyes close at all? Am sure it killed him instantly, if his eyes stayed open after he shot himself they shouldn't close on their own since when you die your muscles relax therefore your eyes stay open.

        I watched it a few times and I think it's both. The blood loss might make his body have lower pressure, so his eyelids naturally fall down since there's nothing to hold them up. But at the same time, it's not at a good enough angle to tell for sure.

            whats scary is the fact that it happens. like when some people commit suicide they shoot themselves in the temple, which might not be lethal. and one guy did that and got amnesia. he was sitting eating cereal when his wife noticed a hole in his skull. (he used a .22 which is a very small round if you didnt know) plus in combat people sometimes survive headshots. im not sure if they are lucky or not

            can I just say that normally 22. rounds are effective for suicide, as well as head shot assassinations. they're very small, very low powered munitions but they've enough power to enter, but not exit the brain cavity, they enter, pass through the brain, hit the opposing side of the skull, fragment and do considerable damage. that man was just incredibly unlucky

              For a moment I was thinking, "Does he really deserve to get shot?" Then you read it.

              This happened in 1998 in the city of Cua in Venezuela (not Venezuala). 18 yr old Hector Duarte tried to rob a bakery when the cops were alerted. After a brief shoot out, he was shot in the left forearm and left leg, he ran up that apartment building and took Mrs Mercedes Lopez hostage after shooting her two 10 and 12 yrs old sons in the legs. The blood on the lady's shirt is from his wounded forearm, he demanded a car so he can go to Caracas Venezuela, and told the cops to get 2 coffins ready 1 for him and 1 for the lady because that was the only way out for him, "you shoot me I shoot her" (hence the cocky attitud) was his reply to the Hostage negotiator (sitting in car with yellow cap on) SWAT sniper was 50 meters away on a nearby roof top a single shot .302 caliber 75 grain shot was fired to end the siege.
