you know I have seen this picture hundreds of times, a ton on this site alone; yet this is the first time I have seen credit to the actual artist (other than the name on the pic which is tough to read).

I've wonder about this sometimes when I visit a church. Mostly things like: if Jesus was executed during the 20s, would the Christian church use a stylized electric chair as its symbol?

And think about all the symbols in your everyday life that many people don't even realize that they came from Christianity.

Like the cross used as sign for medical stuff or the X in front of train crossings. Both of these came from Christianity but I'd like to see electric chairs instead. You could even hook them up to the train's power line!

Actually most Protestant churches use an empty cross to symbolize the resurrection of Christ. Most Roman Catholic churches still portray Jesus on the cross because they believe that the sacrifice is mediated through Mass and is ongoing.
