If someone believes (knows in their mind) that they are right than there is almost nothing you can do to prove them wrong. If someone believes the world is flat then you can take them around the world and once you arrive back where you started, they will probably only agree that the earth is cylindrical.

Some people can be convinced to use logic... A lot of people use basic reasoning to make their arguments. The key is getting them to apply it to religion. It requires people with decently emotional and conversational maturity and a lot of time..

Usually a deconversion will take years. As Sam Harris also said, we need to make sense from a thousand directions at once.
