STOP RESISTING

[–]zachlee2 20 points21 points ago

beating a dead.. overweight dude?

[–]joeanon 2 points3 points ago

He lived and got 20 years !

[–]shinthemighty 9 points10 points ago

Wow... that was actually more fucked up than I thought it would be D:

[–]imaraddude 14 points15 points ago

Holy shit, some police officers abused their power and then got fired for it? This can't be America.

[–]videogameexpert 8 points9 points ago

Well, it was on camera. That officer forgot to turn it off before beating someone up. He deserved getting fired for that simple rule of policework.

Make sure the camera's not on
before getting your baton

[–]watchthenlearn 3 points4 points ago

Wow, that was terrible reporting.

[–]your_ex_girlfriend- 1 point2 points ago

Almost running over? Pigs, I swear.

[–]ToRussiaWithLove -4 points-3 points ago

Although I do not condone the actions of the officers in question, and the officer who was almost run over was not following policy when deploying spike strips, I urge you to remember that these officers put their lives on the line and not all of them come home to their families because of stupid people like the man in the video.

The five officers fired had dozens of commendations between them...but they let emotions rule their actions...

[–]DonOblivious 13 points14 points ago

Did you know that garbage men are twice as likely to die each year than police officers? Why won't anybody think of the poor garbage man putting his life on the line. Not all of them make it home to their families.

[–]Ragnalypse 5 points6 points ago

Commendations are like achievements in video games.

[–]obviousoctopus 4 points5 points ago

They should've almost beat him up then.

[–]SCzergrush 9 points10 points ago

It's so easy to kill people after an accident like that, fucking disgusting even if he deserved it police should be able to keep their composure.

[–]Ragnalypse 4 points5 points ago

If they could keep their composure, they would have a tougher job.

[–]impossiblyirrelevant 5 points6 points ago

Well they all got fired, so now they have no job...

[–]dooron 8 points9 points ago

sleeping style kung-fu. very dangerous.

[–]WhosHandIsThis 6 points7 points ago

Am I the only one questioning what police beat the shit out of a guy they are chasing and then don't even arrest him?

[–]GlassHouseResident 6 points7 points ago

It's the "don't even arrest him" that you find disturbing?

[–]shinthemighty 2 points3 points ago

give the guy a break, he might be from syria

[–]sammew 4 points5 points ago

You don't get arrested in Syria. You get shot and left in a ditch.

[–]shinthemighty 3 points4 points ago

they got the ditch part down right

[–]impossiblyirrelevant 0 points1 point ago

Who says they didn't arrest him?

[–]WhosHandIsThis 0 points1 point ago

I only assume because it looks like they start walking away at the end of the gif.

[–]impossiblyirrelevant 0 points1 point ago

After watching the source video, it sounds like he got 20 years in jail for almost running over a cop

Except of course, it's supposed to be part of your job to not let primal urges overwhelm you. As a cop, you're supposed to maintain law & order, therefore you are supposed to keep your composure, even under stressful times.

[–]ajaxanon 7 points8 points ago

nothing like cops beating a man with a broken spine and massive internal bleeding

[–]KosmicLettuce 7 points8 points ago

First cop in there saves his fall with a sliding gut kick. Pretty smooth if I do say so myself.

[–]El_Brapitan 4 points5 points ago

Call me old fashioned, but this isn't particularly funny

[–]Hylian_Legend 0 points1 point ago

Well the gif itself wasn't meant to be funny. It was the reason for posting it in the first place where OP is talking about giving down votes to an already negative karma link. As the saying goes, kicking a ma that's already down or adding insult to injury

[–]fluxaxion 5 points6 points ago

When I end this world; I'll start with America.

[–]UhOhPoopedIt 2 points3 points ago

At least drop leaflets so the non-assholes have some warning to get out of this shithole.

[–]fluxaxion 0 points1 point ago

The non-assholes will be assimilated. The assholes will die a horrible torturous death.

[–]puravida1024 0 points1 point ago

And we humbly respond.... Bring it.

[–]TasteOfJace 3 points4 points ago

I don't know what all the fuss is about. If I was going to get beat down by cops, I'd definitely prefer to be unconscious.

[–]Shebangalanglang 2 points3 points ago

So the heavens parted, and they descended upon him like a pack of wolves upon an innocent fawn.

[–]HIFW_GIFs_React_ 2 points3 points ago

[–]plutPWNium 2 points3 points ago

LOLWUT Why the fuck is that officer punching him?

[–]Chiii 0 points1 point ago

the guy got 20 years and the officers got fired. all's good.

[–]billyup 0 points1 point ago

I was wondering about that. They got fired? Nice.

[–]Mrfoureyedcyclops 0 points1 point ago

'Merica FUCK YEAH!

This dedication is just incredible. Even when the comment is a deleted comment, it's copy pasted.

I'm not even mad, that dedication is impressive.

[–]Slingray120 -1 points0 points ago

You have to step on it while its down.

[–]jmh401 1 point2 points ago

Buckle up

[–]Hobbycoder 1 point2 points ago

I see a lot of American Officers beating criminals on reddit. My question as a non-American: Is this common?

[–]billyup 1 point2 points ago

Yes.

[–]puravida1024 1 point2 points ago

We have so many criminals. SOOO MANY. So, no. It's not common. The bad guys just get the spot light. Mostly for viewer ratings. But it's also to bring people like that to justice. Mostly for viewers, though.

Edit: I meant to respond to Hobbycoder. Oops.

[–]mezyx 0 points1 point ago

I feel like a terrible person for laughing so hard at this, great analogy.

[–]bconcon 0 points1 point ago

I realized why this wasn't put into /r/WTF. It was posted there 4 hours before this one. Proud of you for being a karma whore.

[–]thatguy50 1 point2 points ago

[–]infectant 0 points1 point ago

HURRY! WE HAVE TO PUNCH THIS UNCONSCIOUS MAN IN THE HEAD REPEATEDLY!!

[–]mitchluvscats 0 points1 point ago

That's really sick. Those cops need to be arrested.

[–]mybillionthaccount 0 points1 point ago

I can't find this funny.

[–]CODfiend 0 points1 point ago

That is so fucked up...

[–]TheBumStinkler 0 points1 point ago

Did anyone else notice that the cop car that was filming nearly ran over a cop that was opening his door...seems irresponsibly ironic.

[–]crazyasian9688 0 points1 point ago

wow...that dude just got the shit beat out of him

[–]Kellogs53 1 point2 points ago

This reminds me of this

[–]artisticchipmunk 0 points1 point ago

[–]thechoclatewonder 2 points3 points ago

This .gif makes fun of itself at this point.

[–]jmowens51 -3 points-2 points ago

The video for those who haven't seen it. This happened in my home town, and while I do not condone the officers actions, I do understand them.

[–]mikarm 11 points12 points ago

I don't understand how you can understand those actions.

[–]jmowens51 -1 points0 points ago

It's not difficult. Cops are people, people act on emotions. What they did was absolutely wrong and I don't approve of it. But it isn't a stretch to understand why they did it.

[–]mikarm 5 points6 points ago

Yes cops are people but they are supposed to put aside their emotions and do their job. If they caught that guy and he decided to resist rather than lay limp and unconscious on the ground then that would be a different story. They still would not be able to beat him like they did but they could use necessary force to get him to comply.

I agree this guy is a piece of shit, he could have hurt a lot of people. He got 20 years in jail though, I think that is a pretty good punishment. If you watch the video I think the officer he almost ran over was in a very stupid place. There is no way they train him to run away from the protection of his vehicle to throw down the spike strips. I know he was probably just trying to hit the van only but he endangered himself and something bad happened to him.

I know the officers involved got fired, but I really hope they were charged with a crime as well. Yes mistakes happen, but that doesn't matter because if a citizen makes a mistake they get charges.

[–]droideka9990 0 points1 point ago

Yeah. Most of the cops I know think of their fellow officers as brothers and sisters. If someone tried to run over my family, I'd beat the hell out of them without thinking too.

[–]Synackaon 1 point2 points ago

That doesn't give them the right to act like thugs. Cops are to enforce the law, not administer their own.

A member of the public losing control is common place. Shouldn't be expected from an officer of the law.

[–]Paintballer6960 -1 points0 points ago

Wwoowww that makes me fucking sick. I can not stand cops who abuse their authority. Hopefully the cops in this video got hit by a taxi two days later and died painfully.

[–]sweetygirlfaj 0 points1 point ago

That's fucked up. Not in the karma sense though. Carry on.

[–]mjhowie 0 points1 point ago

Is it like a rule for American cops to do this? I always see this kind of stuff.

[–]ubbergoat -3 points-2 points ago

It's a fraction of .00007 percent of all interactions with the police but no one wants to hear the story of a police officer telling you to fix your back passenger light or telling some drunk to move along. Also this is a made up on the spot percentage but it's low. trust me I'm a geologist.

[–]mjhowie 0 points1 point ago

True that. The thing I don't get is why Americans produce TV shows just like this (even if they're staged), and show how stupidly aggressive the cops are/can be, and then even show the same shows around the world! Honestly, American cops do not have any good reputation anywhere outside America.

[–]ubbergoat 1 point2 points ago

It could be they would rather be feared and respected then liked and underestimated. It would be optimal if they could be both respected and liked but no one likes and athority figure that makes you feel inferior. I wish America had a relationship with the police like that of Japan police are professional and helpful the people don't try to antagonize them for no reason.

[–]mjhowie 0 points1 point ago

Hmm. Well I mean, just in my mind, I compare American cops to Australian cops here. We never see Australian cops on TV bashing the crap out of criminals. In fact, you never really see cops arresting people like you do on American TV. I don't really know what the general feeling towards cops here is. To my way of thinking, they aren't really disliked. They are more liked though. They are respected, but not as much as you'd think.

[–]puravida1024 0 points1 point ago

I'd rather be underestimated than overestimated. It's all like, "SURPRISE MUTHA FUCKA! I can beat yo ass!" And they'd be all like, "Oh shit. I didn't know he could do that. I totally underestimated him."

[–]Khoppey 0 points1 point ago

Nice repost
