This is exactly what I hate about the "cake day karma whoring" posts, call me bitter, but my cake day was only a few days ago and so I put together an album of 4 different species of gecko's that I own with great photos of all of them....nothing, not a single upvote. But then we have all these other people who posts pictures and gifs of pictures and gifs depicting anything possible ingesting an upvote and boom, hundreds of upvotes. Its so stupid, and yes I know I'm bitter, but I try to add to this website with my own personal content and get shit but this gets all the upvotes. I don't even care about the karma, I just wanted people to see my geckos!

Thanks bro/bra! I just figured "cake day" was the easiest way to get people to see something and I've tried posting an individual pic of a few of the geckos and have got nothing so thought this would have worked to just get those guys some exposure, reddit needs more original content...at least there are redditors like you tho! :D

Random chance plays a bigger factor than pandering or actual content. It's not that people didn't appreciate your geckos enough, it's that by the nature of timing and just a smidge of chaos, they didn't get a chance to see them.

That was probably mostly my mistake of having "cake day" in the post but from past experience it always seems to get more people to click on the post. It wasn't a super long album or anything, just a few photos of different geckos!

That's because reddit only prefers familiar, watered down content. Anything too new or requiring more than 15 seconds of processing will be looked over or downvoted.

I have both games. Crystal shard would make some sort of combination of an upvote and downvote. However, the new games it scrolls through ever power and you hit a button and you get the power it landed on.
