Thanks!

You mean the moderate Christian one?

[–]cjmook21 8 points9 points ago

So how do they manage to keep everyone else out?

[–]mcclungRVA 58 points59 points ago

Through prayer

[–]8lack5ky 3 points4 points ago

did that work ?

[–]Mileskitsune 7 points8 points ago

god works in mysterious ways, he's probably testing their patience

[–]gorammitMal 13 points14 points ago

Has to be my new favourite GIF.

[–]chewy7979 4 points5 points ago

Anyone know what he is talking about in that gif?

[–]WaterChestnut3 2 points3 points ago

Someone asked the original colour of the fall of the whip or something

[–]keroro117 3 points4 points ago

Harrison ford is a man. 'nuff said.

[–]Irlyn 10 points11 points ago

If you're talking about r/christianity I don't think they are trying to keep it secret.

Why does that even matter if they DID have one? They're allowed to do whatever they wish.

[–]KatieMyLady 4 points5 points ago

Does r/atheism have a policy against trolling or posting countering beliefs? I noticed a lot of the Christian subreddits have harsh rules against it, and this one is totally private. Odd.

[–]ward85 4 points5 points ago

Different subreddits have different rules and how much they enforce them. Christians are pretty ostracized on some of the bigger ones, so not surprised they are a little skittish.

[–]VincetheMadMan 0 points1 point ago

Do we have rules?

[–]ward85 1 point2 points ago

I think we have the usual ones, no posting personal information, if you're going to post something make it pertinent to the subreddit. Nothing too different than any other. I know that pics is just that, and f7u12 is another where pictures are the preferred medium.

[–]Taodeist 0 points1 point ago

How could you possibly believe in rules?

[–]auntacid -1 points0 points ago

Because rules can be a societal thing and not a deity thing. You know. The same argument for where atheists get morality?

[–]jabies 0 points1 point ago

[–]thirdegree 1 point2 points ago

R/atheism doesn't have policies, ignoring the reddit-wide ones of course.

[–]DidntClickGuy 2 points3 points ago

Secrecy through obscurity

[–]otakuman 2 points3 points ago

Shouldn't that be "Security through obscurity"?

[–]411_WAS_AN_INFO_JOB[S] 9 points10 points ago

No, I'm talking about the catacombs one. http://www.reddit.com/r/atheism/comments/x3i8s/til_there_is_a_christian_underground_sub_which_is/

Edit: You're right, it doesn't matter. Unfortunately some prepubescent douche bag decided to instigate a raid. It makes us all look like assholes. Said douche bag: http://www.reddit.com/user/zerokarmisma

[–]Irlyn 5 points6 points ago

Oh man, that is terrible (about the raid). :(

[–]randomletterusername 2 points3 points ago

Yeah it is usually open to everyone, every month or two people come in and just become nuisances so it gets set to private. It'll probably open back up in a little while. They really just want to have discussions without having a bunch of 'atheist here, why does xyz' threads and mass down-voting of everything...

[–]VincetheMadMan 0 points1 point ago

how the fuck did he get into a private subreddit?

[–]411_WAS_AN_INFO_JOB[S] 0 points1 point ago

It was read only if you weren't invited. He found it and decided to douche things up. When people started to go there and act like assholes, they locked it down.

[–]rasputine -2 points-1 points ago

Let's see how often the word 'raid' is mentioned on that thread....0 times. Cool.

[–]411_WAS_AN_INFO_JOB[S] 4 points5 points ago

"Perhaps we should imply that having sex with that person against their will would be a good thing to do." Let's see how often rape is mentioned in that statement. Zero times? Cool.

[–]rasputine -4 points-3 points ago

Maybe you'd like to actually point to where the concept of a raid was even subtly hinted at by the OP of that thread.

Here I'll help you out: He didn't.

There's always my favorite subreddit, r/xtianrage. Most hilarious fail shit I have ever seen.

[–]illiniguy399 0 points1 point ago

Please tell me it is a joke sub and those people are just circle jerking.

[–]pavlovs_daughter8 2 points3 points ago

But... But the background of the sub is Ridiculously Photogenic guy as Jesus. That can't be serious?

[–]illiniguy399 1 point2 points ago

I am officially tagged as "Makes God Frown" by one of the mods who asked me not to return.

[–]Waldinian 1 point2 points ago

No. These guys are dead serious. I was considering uploading some conversations I had with some of th people. One guy there even believes in a geocentric solar system.

[–]illiniguy399 1 point2 points ago

Oh my Science. That is ridiculous. How ridiculous, you may ask? Well, behold, the top scoring link of all time! It's titled "Checkmate, Atheists!"

[–]Waldinian 2 points3 points ago

Yes. If you look through the comments you will see that no one knows how to spell, and all atheists are labeled "atheissts"and haters. I am officially a "definitely a hater"

[–]Waldinian 3 points4 points ago

My favorite post is titled "how I feel being part of the reddit/9gag community."

ಠ_ಠ

[–]illiniguy399 1 point2 points ago

HOW DARE THEY LUMP US IN WITH THOSE BOTTOM FEEDERS!

[–]illiniguy399 0 points1 point ago

Also, please post a link to the comment by the geocentric solar system guy. I need to see this.

[–]Waldinian 0 points1 point ago

Unfortunately, It was via pm. I can post some pictures of conversations in the morning.

[–]illiniguy399 0 points1 point ago

Please do if it's not too much trouble!

[–]GuyMumbles 1 point2 points ago

I love how even the original Mr Junior "Indiana" Jones looks confused.

[–]Epicaq 0 points1 point ago

I have man crush on Harrison Ford :) I wish I could give him a hug.

[–]Runeforged 0 points1 point ago

Harrison Ford just got awarded 5000 badass points.

[–]Maledictator 0 points1 point ago

Lol. What is that even going to accomplish for them? It only means they'll be stroking each others egos with no one to contradict what they're saying. Basically, it's just going to be full of stagnant "praise Jesus" posts. I agree with Mr. Ford entirely.

[–]Clev3r 1 point2 points ago

because no stroking of egos, or stagnant "fuck God" posts happen in this beacon of intelligence: r/atheism

[–]thirdegree 1 point2 points ago

The difference is, you're allowed to be here and point it out.

[–]Clev3r 0 points1 point ago

Actually r/christianity, the public subreddit, I don't know what the fuck they're talking about in this private one, is very open to having atheists on it and many people do and contribute greatly to the conversations on it.

[–]thirdegree 0 points1 point ago

I was talking about the private one.

Though in respect to /r/christianity, I'll point you to their own community policy, specifically #5.

No advocating or promoting a non-Christian agenda. Criticizing the faith, stirring debate, or championing alternative belief systems are not appropriate here.

Even taking into mind the edit at the bottom

It seems a considerable amount of consternation exists over the specific wording of this rule. What it is intended to do is not to stymie interfaith dialogue or to allow certain expressions of the faith to be derided as "un-Christian." It was intended to curb trolls who attack and proselytize against Christianity. My wording of this point is very clearly inarticulate - if you have any ideas how to rework it, please let us know.

the statement

We enforce the aforementioned rules according to the spirit rather than the precise letter of the Community Policy. Violations may result in warnings, comment removal, and account bans.

means that if they don't like what you're saying they can and will remove posts, and ban users. And they have.

[–]parapoxical 0 points1 point ago

Hey REDDIT! This is an opportunity to have a thought-provoking, grounded debate with others who have a common interest (Reddit) but don't share your same beliefs. Let's actually show Christians that we can put our money where our mouth is and be the rational, logic driven people we claim to be.

P.S. Taking a leap of faith here Reddit don't Gaddafi me

[–]JediThark 0 points1 point ago

Makes me love the internet, even more!

[–]matt70p 0 points1 point ago

http://www.reddit.com/r/Christianity is it. Idk how the athiests stay out, Its weird. ( I go on there sometimes for a laugh, And have only seen one anti-god comment )

[–]cyanoacrylate 1 point2 points ago

I'm on there frequently as an atheist. There's some interesting discussions about Bible interpretation which I occasionally enjoy weighing in on. There's nothing wrong with faith in and of itself, but I enjoy speaking out against bigoted interpretations of the Bible, which are often steeped in mistranslation or taking things out of context.

[–]iMarmalade 1 point2 points ago

Idk how the athiests stay out, Its weird

They aggressively ban atheists. They like to claim they don't... and it sort of ebbs and flows. For example, linking to /r/Christianity is banable offense.

[–]matt70p -2 points-1 points ago

I'm going to post an atheist comment on there to see if what you said was true.

[–]matt70p -1 points0 points ago

I pissed them off, But i'm not banned yet

[–]TheEmoPanda 0 points1 point ago

I thought that was a fake sub-reddit.
