That's why bite victims should FIRST get away from the snake, and then stay VERY calm, and still, so that the venom binds up in the bite area tissue, instead of spreading into the blood stream. Never cut the bitten tissue, or suck out the venom by mouth, or it will severely poison the person even worse. Most important, let it bind up locally instead of spreading, by using a light tourniquet... not too tight, just enough to slow blood flow, but not block it completely.
