I thought that village looked very familiar. This picture was taken when a group of us went backpacking in China a few years ago.

I can't tell what type of dog that is but the color, coat, and tail remind me of my favorite dog Shelby. She was a Carolina dog aka American Dingo. Absolutely beautiful dog. Here's a pic of similar dogs: http://www.californiacarolinadogs.com/update09-30-02/5large.jpg

Not sure of a breed, but nearly every dog in that region looks similar. Here is a picture of a couple pups that was taken in the village seen in the original picture.
