    Not necessarily. It depends on the bullet. If it's a hollow-point, which most bullets you see in films like this are, then what happens is that the hollow point, upon contact with the skull, makes a mushroom shape and peals away from the back of the bullet. When this happens, the shards of the bullet enter the skull at an alarming rate, meaning you have little razors flying around the victims head at an alarming rate, destroying tissue, brain-matter, what have you. When it comes out the back of the head, all that's left is a big funnel of tiny razors that wouldn't be sufficient enough to penetrate or break glass, namely because they've lost velocity after going through a skull and brain.

    It depends on the gun and the type of bullet. Lower caliber guns or bullets that are meant to shatter on impact usually wont come out the other side.

    Some of the people responding to you are wrong. Hollow points do not generally break apart, shatter, or turn into shards.

    Furthermore, I believe Vincent has a .45 caliber 1911 in this scene which, regardless of bullet type would probably go through a head and windshield.

    depends upon the calibre & type of bullet, if it's a low-powered/smaller calibre bullet, whilst it might make it through the head, a lot of the force will be lost turning Marv-I mean, Sara's brains into Pulp, thus leaving the bullet with insufficient force to break through the glass when it gets out the other side. Fiction comes up with all sorts of implausible bullet physics, so I can understand the confusion.

    I don't know but even if in the movie it's exaggerated, it still stands that the shot caused splatter, a .22 wouldn't cause it (generally) while a more powerful round with hollow point might cause a lot of spatter while still not breaking the glass.

    Obviously in the movie it's special effects.

    Um...could someone please explain to me the appeal of Pulp Fiction? Or any other movie by Quentin Tarantino? I just don't get it, all of his movies leave me with the feeling, "yeah. Next."

    I'm not trying to insult anyone's sensibilities, and appreciate that people can have different tastes in movies. It's just...seems like...he learned how to make movies by watching B movies...now he makes B movies. I just don't get the appeal.

    Hmm...one thing you have to say about B movies is because they are usually low-budget, they have to survive on good story lines and good dialogue if they are going to be enjoyable. You do get a sense watching his movies of a group of adrenalin-junkie writers in a smoky room trying to thrash together a coherent story, rather than something like, say, the Godfather, with a ponderous film studio bureaucracy adding too much mass to the production.

    Absolutely love it, I love anything Tarantino, mostly because of the dialogue. The words they use, the way they talk to eachother, it's unique. People don't talk like they talk, but it's subtle. Then you also have the bad-assary going on which just kicks a million asses. But it's mostly the dialogue, the violence is secondary, an accessory. Pay attention to what they are saying to eachother, it's just... brilliant really. Witty, choreographed, smart, every word is hand picked by Tarantino.

    Now that you mention it, one thing I WILL say for his movies is that the actors he casts really seem to enjoy the roles and performing the dialogue. I don't know whether that's good casting, good writing, or both. It sort of reminds me of Glengarry Glenross...you can tell the actors are loving getting their teeth into the script. And I do have to say the final restaurant scene in Pulp Fiction is well choreographed. It could stand as a short film all by itself.

    They're very intellegently written as far as dialog and plot pacing. They are "well written" movies masquerading as B-Movie "pulp fiction" (heh) crap.

    The title lets you know exactly what you're in for, and delivers one of the best scripted and acted examples of the genre.

    If you didn't know what "pulp fiction" was before you saw Pulp Fiction, you sure did after seeing it!

    I've actually never been a fan of it. I heard it hyped for years and years and years and finally when I was 25, I broke down and watched it. Afterwards I wondered if there was anything I missed, so I watched it again. Nope. I got it all.

    I felt the same way about Quentin Tarantino's other movies too. Not bad, just if you don't watch them first as a teenager when you're prone to be blinded by cool, you're never going to enjoy them as an adults sans nostalgia.

    It's a Tarantino film, and Tarantino films have a very definite style to them that some people find distasteful. If you don't like Tarantino's style, you won't like Pulp Fiction. Personally, I thought the movie was good, but I don't consider it a masterpiece like a lot of people seem to.

    That's nice. But we all know that votes up and down are often popularity votes, particularly when the context is about people's opinions on something, as it is here. Knowing people's feelings on a topic can be perfectly legit and interesting.
