My friend had two hermit crabs you used to sit at opposite ends of their tank and throw stones at each other. he called them the Endcrabs.

I was wondering this myself. Whenever my hermit crabs see me looking at them, they shrink back into their shell and then burrow into the ground.

From the wiki:

Several hermit crab species, both terrestrial and marine, use "vacancy chains" to find new shells: when a new, bigger shell becomes available, hermit crabs gather around it and form a kind of queue from largest to smallest. When the largest crab moves into the new shell, the second biggest crab moves into the newly vacated shell, thereby making its previous shell available to the third crab, and so on

I had two hermit crab pets. They ended up eating each other then the other one (eating winner) randomly lost rotting limbs and died. Im pretty sure he was a hermit crab zombie.

That probably means he was extremely stressed out. It may sound strange, but stress results in limbs dropping. The fight was probably a shell fight; they need lots of shells to choose from. Hermit crabs are really fun animals to take care of, but it's a lot of work and requires research.

My sister had a pet hermit crab when we were younger. I don't know why, but it really really scared me. The first few nights we had it, I needed to sleep downstairs because I was so afraid of it.
