"can't you see you're not making christianity better, you're only making rock worse!"

Ah, never heard of them. See they were on Tooth & Nail Records which is a Christian label.

if you like any of the light pop punk stuff from the early to mid 2000's, then you might like them. sound a lot like the starting line.

I've found a lot of perfectly good bands are actually Christians. So long as they continue making good music I don't really give a shit.

Bands with Christians in them are very different from Christian bands.

I'm aware of that and my non-shit-giving stance applies to both.

Thrice? they are a really good band, but seriously though, they broke up so Dustin Kensrue can do worship services at Mars Hill. I mean, I am a musician and I could possibly contact him to do vocals for my post metal EP. It scares me that the frontman would do work for Pastor Driscoll's megachurch.

He's written stuff like this on their website. I believe somewhere along the line he's moving to Seattle. Even though I am both an atheist and a Thrice fan, I would totally go and see if I can get him to collaborate with me on my album.

This is strange to hear. I was a roadie back in 2001 on the Plea for Peace tour which Thrice was part of. Dustin never spoke about religion, but he's a quiet guy. One of the nicest bands out there, especially the brothers Riley and Eddie. Even more strange that they would have been opening for Alkaline Trio, who enjoyed putting upside down crosses up as props.

Was it MXPX? that's usually a shock to mxpx fans to know they started as christian rock

I love MXPX but I was quite the fundie when I first started listening, so no surprise there.

I also enjoy Paramore.

King's X?

I've always been surprised to learn that most of my friends never actually listen to the lyrics of rock songs they like. Are you one of those, by any chance?

I felt pretty much the same way knowing Gordon Gano from the Violent Femmes is a pretty devout Baptist and a few of their songs have religious influence. As long as it's good music and not over preachy it's good in my book. I'll always love the Violent Femmes.

Relient K are a good band that I listen too. Didn't realise that they were Christian Rock!

I worked with a guy that was friends with them when they first started out.

Chevelle's first album was on a christian label...

Thousand Foot Krutch is one of my favorite bands ever and I recently found out they were a christian rock band, it surprised me how little I cared. The music is good and they're not forcing their beliefs on anyone.

[–]Rozard 0 points1 point ago

I thought it was common knowledge that all the bands mentioned in this thread were Christian. Along the same vein as everyone else, I don't think they make bad music, and one of my favorite bands of all time is Christian.

Honestly, if you can't get behind a group that plays awesome music, has a singer who rocks out with a keytar, and a drummer who forgoes monitors for studio headphones he duct tapes to his head, then I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
