This title sound unnecessarily dirty.

[–]nikolaiFTW 6 points7 points ago

I also feel violated.

[–]Minion666 4 points5 points ago

Not bad? How dare you...

[–]chips15 9 points10 points ago

It's okay, he had Goldstar not Skyline.

[–]Bcoble003 3 points4 points ago

I'm from Ohio and currently in Hawaii (due to military) I love skyline! Have not had it in 3 years

[–]iamadubstepremix 2 points3 points ago

YOU CAN BUY IT ONLINE!

This is what you do. You get yourself a nice little seat at a Skyline and get yourself a #-way and ask for your cheese on the side. You pile that cheese on top and save a bit of it for later. Then you take those oyster crackers they gave you and create a circle of crackers under the sides of the #-way. Just stick em into the side and push them in a bit with your fork. After you have your cracker moat finished then you start eating the #-way. This is the important part, CUT your bites. Do not eat it like traditional spaghetti where you wrap your noodles around your fork because if you do you're going to get more noddle than chilli or cheese. Squish the cheese and chilli down a bit to make it easier to cut if you have to, but never wrap always cut. While you're eating you can push your cracker moat in more until you're finished. Once you're finished you should have a nice soaked cracker pile and some cheese that you saved earlier. Pile that last bit of cheese on your oyster crackers and chomp up them cheesey chilli crackers to finish off your meal.

That's Jayce's method of eating a #-way. You're welcome.

Pretty sure I just had a foodgasm.

[–]iamadubstepremix 1 point2 points ago

I think I love you.

[–]PCjr 0 points1 point ago

Pro tip: Order your #-way 'Juicy'. Also, when it's available, opt for the 'Skyway' (double cheese at no extra cost).

[–]BanterDTD 1 point2 points ago

I prefer to order mine inverted

[–]PCjr 1 point2 points ago

Cheese on the bottom? That's just crazy talk.

[–]BanterDTD 0 points1 point ago

It's a delight

[–]SpacklesTheWonderCat 3 points4 points ago

If you ever find yourself in the St. Bernard area go to Chili Time. You will not be disappointed.

[–]spacks 1 point2 points ago

I was(n't) disappointed.

[–]smithsknits 4 points5 points ago

If you meander across the river to Newport, Dixie Chili is quite good too. They have six and seven ways! But I am a Skyline fan. Camp Washington is also great. Just avoid Gold Star at all costs.

[–]iamadubstepremix 0 points1 point ago

May I dare ask what's on a six and seven way?

[–]Lowend1 2 points3 points ago

Newportian here.

They do not have a seven way.

The six way is chili, spaghetti, beans, onions, garlic, and cheese

[–]iamadubstepremix 0 points1 point ago

Garlic? Is it any good?

[–]Lowend1 0 points1 point ago

yeah, but I love garlic. I usually take out the onions and add black olives too.

[–]iamadubstepremix 0 points1 point ago

I'm not a huge of onions or black olives. The garlic sounds like it'd go well though.

[–]demianx 0 points1 point ago

Oh, it is great with the garlic. You can get it on the coneys too. No other way to do it.

[–]masedogg 0 points1 point ago

A six way at Blue Ash Chili has fried jalapeno bottlecaps. Quite good and I'm a hardcore Skyline devotee.

[–]AggieTimber[S] 1 point2 points ago

I now realize I chose poorly. I need japs in my chili.

[–]masedogg 1 point2 points ago

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

[–]iamadubstepremix 0 points1 point ago

I've only been to BAC once, and I wasn't a huge fan. It was closer to Gold Star.

[–]masedogg 0 points1 point ago

I wasn't impressed with the chili. I did like the peppers though. I've heard their sandwiches are good.

[–]iamadubstepremix 0 points1 point ago

Have you been to the Red Squirrel? They have great sandwiches. Decent omlettes, too.

[–]masedogg 0 points1 point ago

I haven't. It's another place I've always heard good things about. Gotta get there.

[–]smithsknits 0 points1 point ago

6: 5-way plus jalapeño slices; 7: add chopped garlic to the jalapeño slices. I haven't had it myself but my dad loves it.

[–]alisonte 0 points1 point ago

Weird, I'm from NKY and I usually find that people from KY like Gold Star and people from OH like Skyline. There were so many people I knew that were offended by Obama coming to Cinci and eating Skyline rather than Gold Star. I thought it was hilarious.

Have to agree on the Dixie Chili though. I love getting chili cheese waffle fries! This thread made me hungry.

[–]smithsknits 0 points1 point ago

People in Cincinnati were probably pissed that Obama showed up here because Cincy is a Republican stronghold. The chili part doesn't even matter. Gold Star is absolute crap in my opinion.

[–]exmily 1 point2 points ago

Where are you from? and whose chili did you try?

[–]AggieTimber[S] 3 points4 points ago

College Station, TX

I went to Gold Star next to the university. Not terrible once doused in hot sauce.

[–]exmily 6 points7 points ago

Well I'm not a fan of any Cincinnati chili. I prefer traditional style. If you are around for a bit though you should try Pleasant Ridge Chili's gravy cheese fries. They are pretty famous and open 24/7. fyi its cash only

[–]AggieTimber[S] 1 point2 points ago

Unfortunately, it's a little far from where I am staying to try to get to without a car.

[–]pussyclamp 0 points1 point ago

Where are you staying?

[–]AggieTimber[S] 9 points10 points ago

Something tells me it isn't the best idea to give out my exact whereabouts to a stranger on the Internet named pussyclamp!

[–]supergtt 9 points10 points ago

Its cool, pussyclamp is legit.

[–]AggieTimber[S] 2 points3 points ago

Oh, then in that case, I'm in OTR. :)

[–]anarkist 4 points5 points ago

Should have gone to camp Washington chili

[–]spacks 2 points3 points ago

I agree with this comment.

[–]PCjr 3 points4 points ago

What did you have? I prefer Skyline's spaghetti combo's (5-way) over Gold Star's, but I like the cheese coneys from each about the same.

[–]AggieTimber[S] 2 points3 points ago

4 way, beans, not onions.

[–]supergtt 1 point2 points ago

You have come across the river to dixie chili.

also, skyline >>>>>> goldstar.

[–]AggieTimber[S] 2 points3 points ago

Wow, this post has taken off!

What's for dinner tonight /r/cincinnati?

I'm ready for good local food, but it must be walking or single bus route distance from the Washington Park area.

[–]exmily 0 points1 point ago

I've been meaning to try Tom and Chee... go check it out for me and let me know if it's worth it.

[–]AggieTimber[S] 1 point2 points ago

Meet me there for a late lunch tomorrow? :)

[–]exmily -1 points0 points ago

I could do that. Pm me tomorrow morning.

[–]BROitsJAMIE 1 point2 points ago

As a Cincinnati native, I love our chili. I see the suggestions about PRC and Camp Washington....both are delicious.

I prefer Skyline to Gold Star though....Gold Star tastes to me like it has potpourri in it. I don't know why. I could eat Skyline daily but really have a hard time with Gold Star. Hope you enjoy your stay here!

[–]jarisman[!] 1 point2 points ago

As a San Diego native, I can't stand the chili here. Weinerschnitzel will always be the best in my heart and stomach.

[–]demianx 1 point2 points ago

I can see it being an acquired taste from growing up in the area. But to me, there is nothing better than a six-way from Dixie Chili. It brings a little joy to my heart (and cholesterol.)

[–]jrod11291 0 points1 point ago

I usually eat Skyline 3 or more times a week. It's my local eating heritage. It may not be fine cuisine, but for God's sake, it's delicious. Out of town folks normally don't understand, so cheers to you.

[–]RayGarraty -1 points0 points ago

Being a Detroit native, I just can't get behind Cincinnati Chili. A friend brought me some Detroit style Coney sauce and some Detroit hot dogs. Made them today...a taste of home.
