I've never understood the "Unlock a chain lock from the outside" tip. If you can get inside to attach the rubber band then isn't that cheating?

You don't need to get inside to attach the rubber band, you can do it through the small opening of the door that the chain allows. This could be useful if someone you know has fainted or can't get to the door for some reason and you have the key but the chain lock is on.

Wouldn't enough power also help in an emergency? That would be faster.

Well I haven't seen those things anywhere, so I don't know how secure they are, but they don't look secure.

I guess it depends on the quality/strength of the door and the chain lock as well as on the strength of the person that is trying to open the door. Also, the emergency could be something that is not worth breaking the door for, like the person inside listening to loud music and not hearing you.

There's definitely nothing wrong nutritionally. I can think of two things that might be "wrong" financially - maybe.

In some areas there is actually local produce that is as cheap or more so than frozen vegetables. I don't think this is that common in the US.

The other thing is that keeping things frozen does actually require energy. If you factor in the cost of purchasing and running a freezer, it can make a difference. But if you already have a freezer that has more space than you use, as most Americans do, that price doesn't really factor into the decision. Especially if you're renting (as most students do) and don't even have the option of buying a smaller refrigerator to minimize costs.

I would think it takes energy to freeze it, but once it's frozen it takes about as much energy as an empty (air filled) freezer. Fair enough if they are more expensive there. I think weight for weight the stuff I get is about half the price frozen but I mainly get it because I eat more veg if it's convenient. and usualy the frozen supplements some fresh stuff.

Yeah, I actually meant to mostly be agreeing with you. For the vast majority of people that the advice was directed at, I think frozen is the most affordable option.

The smoke bomb section is a bit off. The instructions are dangerous and some of the info is wrong. Here's a link to a better set of instructions. Don't bother with colored smoke without more knowledge of the basics. It's more complicated than powered food coloring.
