I own the game Skate 3 on PS3, I haven't experienced any game breaking bugs like those videos out there.

It is harder and more fun than Tony Hawk IMO :)

I've only played demos.I loved the pysics but found it pretty hard to do all the tricks with the right analog stick. You had to get the timing right to reposition it, be precise when it comes to pushing it in the right direction. I was inadvertently doing tricks I didn't want to. Maybe it would have been easier with a bigger analog stick (freeks?) so I would have stuck to it.
Oh and the 'force' retrieve of your skateboard never gets old.

Sounds like you're playing Xbox?..I always found the PS3 controller to be much easier to play the Skate series. I think it's the position and size of the toggle.

No, as odd as it might sound skateboarding is something that exists in real life and before the Tony Hawk video games came out. The "Skate" series is based on skateboarding, not the Tony Hawk games.

I did a lot of interesting shit in that game. Shame nobody got to see it because they base popularity on the approval of 10 year olds.

I was literally just about to add Skate 3 to my Amazon.com cart then I read your second comment. Why in the world would developers give such a awesome set of toys to play around with and then just take them out.

I know Skate was supposed to be based around realistic skateboarding, maybe that's why? Even if that is the case it's a pretty weak one.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend Skate 3. The problem was that they tried to shy away from their realistic style and go balls-out cartoony. On the entire huge map there isn't a single normal half pipe, park or mega-ramp. Its just endless bland small stair sets, bowls and ledges with a few speed hills and one relatively cool mega-ramp-like area.

The skate park builder is kind of fun but aside from me and like 5 other people apparently, everybody just makes the same crap over and over again.

Skate 1 and 2 were awesome. The versatility of the controls made Tony Hawks Pro Skater look like Pong. The maps were great and the multiplayer in Skate 2 was fantastic, but this one couldn't possibly be more of a let down. We are shit out of luck in terms of skating games for a while.

it was really sad too, because I was riding the SKATE train pretty hard after 2, and was getting excited when I heard that a 3 was coming out, even though I felt it was a little soon after 2 to be releasing a 3, but I bought it anyways, and then realized EA has just killed another franchise I really enjoyed.

I can only hope, skate was such a fun skateboarding game after spending 6 years with tony hawk, it was so refreshing to play a game that you had to get better in order to play it better, you couldn't just up your stats and make the game easier, you had to actually learn to play and it made it so rewarding when you did something right.

Not that we know of, but there's no way they aren't working on one, or have it in the pipeline. I got Pro Skater HD and even upping the stats handicaps you. Having full stats means you sometimes ollie further than you want to or go higher than you want to go, causing you to miss tons of potential lines.

I liked the inclusion of hardcore mode (made the skating much more realistic) but the world pales in comparison to the first skate game. This sounds strange but they gave you too much stuff to skate. The first skate had a smaller amount of spots but they were more varied and harder to find.

The fucked up thing is, I'm pretty sure it was put into the game intentionally and removed out of greed. Like, its too perfect to be an accident and too innocuous for it to be necessary for them to remove it from the game.

There was another thing (terrible product placement) where you could put a giant miracle whip bottle somewhere as a prop, and you could actually bounce on top of the bottle. Then one day that feature mysteriously disappeared after I submitted the video to the miracle whip video contest(Which i should have won). As far as I know I am the only one with a video of it.

It was like they realized only a select few people figured it out so they wanted to save it for the next game so they could pretend they added a new feature. They also made it impossible to make ramps like this which, again, of the hundreds of parks Ive seen I am the only one to have done that. It was like a big fuck you to their community for thinking of things they couldn't come up with themselves.

I got pretty fucking mad about it when it happened 2 years ago, and that's not even counting my rage over EA throttling the connection and freezing peoples systems(because the game wasn't designed to boot you back to the menu) every time the counter got too high on the multiplayer. It was basically impossible to play online for like a year and a half.

Shit, now I'm getting mad just thinking about it. But what the fuck am I supposed to do about it? They already got my money, they dont give a shit about the problems I bought from them.

They usually move 2 or 3 steps to the right or left when they throw in because it doesn't matter as much as when you kick. you can also just throw over the person's head so no one cares

There's a number of things going on here. The blue defender is too close, but if the white player chooses to make the throw the referee won't generally restart play. If the blue player takes it in the face, it's unlikely the referee would call a foul, unless it seems clear the thrower did it especially hard on purpose.

However, the white player has done a flip throw, which is illegal unless done exactly correctly. Hard to see in this gif, but it looks to me like it wasn't a proper throw-in.

TLDR: Everyone's doing everything wrong, but no, it's not a foul to be hit in the face with a ball for being dumb.

I can't even try to count how many hours I've spent on Skate 3, that game is just awesome, and trying to see who could make the most ridiculous shit happen in the environment was half of the fun.

The funniest thing I ever did in this game was play as the t-bone steak in free roam mode and attack skaters from the sky. I would find a ledge in the canyon and then hop off and spread eagle trying to crush them under my juicy deliciousness. Watching it through the camera mode was hilarious. You would just be looking at the skater passing by and then out of no where some random t-bone steak crushes them. So yeah, Skate 3 tis' a silly game.
