I work on a fishing boat and I get cornered on a regular basis. There extremely aggressive and will only back down after I stab them with my filet knife.

Lol I was cleaning a few white sea bass on the dock when all of a sudden a 300lb+ seal jumpe onto the dock and ran me away from the pile of filets i had lying there.My friend Johnny said "Wtf dude you have a knife, stab it!" so I ran in and stabbed it through the cheek and hit his teeth with my knife as he was roaring at me. I missed te second wild stab as he snatched up another filet and slid into the water.

seals are pinnipeds whom is a suborder of caniformia(lit. Dog-like), same as:
* dogs and wolfs (canidae)
* marters, racoons, red pandas, (musteloidea)
* bears, (ursidae)

I love the reading about animals, another "whoa" thing I found long ago is that hyenas are feliformia, that is cat-creatures. :) Marters are really fun to skin and butch btw.

Seal DNA is actually related to bears.

In fact, as DNA studies have shown, pinnipeds (seals, sea lions and walruses) are most closely related to bears, having diverged from a common ancestor some 25 million years ago.

The clade Pinnipedia (seals, sea lions, walruses) are a widely distributed and diverse group of semi-aquatic marine mammals descended from a common ancestor most closely related to modern bears.

Even then, still more closely related to dogs than rats.
