I've tried so hard to make my playset of Seance actually playable and so far it always sat in my hand the entire game. Poor seance. Such a cool name/flavor that could've been great.

I was on vacation in Utah and stopped into the local game store for an FNM. I bought a pack of Innistrad at the end of the night and opened it. Woodland Cemetary, awesome. It's good trade fodder, and a card I should consider keeping if I ever want to play green and black. From behind my shoulder, a young group of kids calls out, "Oh man, you got a Villagers of Estwald! That card is awesome!" Are you kids high? This is serious.

I went to Fongo Bongo in Riverton. It was a fun place, but a lot younger group than I expected. I've built decks for my buddy's little brother and his friends to play FNM with. I like to think I'm funding shadow wars in another country, the Magic equivalent to giving weapons to the Contras.

I do admit that it was nice when all the people that beat me up in game were offering hundreds of bucks in cash for it, to which I replied that I was going to keep it as a piece of a game that I love so much and wasn't able to play when the card was made.

Actually a lot of hardcore drafters I know will crack "off packs" ("won 13 packs...I'll crack one" or "won an old pack from a set we hate to draft") and then proceed to analyze each card's pick potential...starting at the common. The people watching just wait patiently for the rare...

I did a sealed tourney at a friend's house yesterday. Someone bought a box and opened it there. There were 12 of us all crowded around the kitchen table watching for rares and offering trades as soon as cards were opened. It was madness.
