I'll probably get downvoted to hell, but am I the only person that actually liked the "Silver Side Up" album? I mean come on, they may not be any good, but the music won't kill you. Everyone used to love nickleback until ONE hipster pointed out his opinion on reddit, and now everyone is sucking the reddit dick with a snooty smile on their face.

Now I brace myself for the hateful/disproving comments; totally original reddit. Give it to me.

I completely agree their new music is shitty. But I bet you half(if not more) of the people that say they hate nickelback haven't even listened to one of their songs. They're just jumping on the train with everybody else because it's the cool thing to do. Welcome to the human race. No matter how independent redditors may want to seem, everyone just follows trends to fit in with society.

If you have listened to the radio you have heard one of their songs. People probably hear their songs without knowing its them and think it's not that bad. I remember seeing a picture of them and thinking they looked like a bunch of douches, so that is what my first opinion of them was and that has not changed. You don't have to hate their music to hate them, but it does kind of go hand in hand.

"Everyone used to love Nickelback." Thats simply not true. They were mocked relentlessly from the time the Leader Of Men single was released in many circles. That said, you can't be the only one who purchased their several millions of sold records and constant non-stop radio play that tortured me for years. So you're not alone.

Many of us, not all but many, feel that their music lacks any kind of creativity or passion. As though they simply borrowed from many good bands that came before them, but did so dispassionately and with mediocrity as their goal. On top of that, the lyrics seem as though they're a parody of rock lyrics written through the lens of a twelve year old girl. Thus having the effect of coming off disingenuous. The overall effect is as if we are listening to rock music designed specifically to come across as bad parody without a joke. Also, Nickelback and similar bands like Creed were hated long before reddit piled on. Hope that helps.

I don't think that they are bad they do have talent you can't deny that. I think that it is a genre of music that most people on reddit don't like therefore the are the worst thing ever. If you don't like it don't talk about it. Simple.

Thankfully, Silver Side Up wasn't a terrible crapfest of music, so that's a pretty easy answer
