I enjoy stories like these, but I really do not like the "Faith in humanity restored" title. Have an upvote anyway.

[–]razorsheldon 12 points13 points ago

I can't disagree, but mods can't edit posts or titles... probably a good thing, but there should be an exception for this phrase.

Upvote for content or downvote for title, hard to make a choice, but considering that this subreddit is called "UpliftingNEWS" and a title like this clearly isn't Newsworthy, I made my choice.

"I...I've made my choice..."

[–]Paimka 14 points15 points ago

That's adorable :)

This is great. So many people treat kids as mere nuisances. It's nice to see someone take the time to be sweet to them.

Title.....Bleh......

I love how seriously she's taking her autograph.

What a great first post to read in this subreddit.

Actually brought a tear to my eye. So sweet.

[–]faeryjessa 2 points3 points ago

AWWW! This one brought tears to my eyes :)

Employee of the freaking century.

Fantastic!

I hope people don't start doing the whole "don't lie to kid" bitching. You know, like don't let the believe in Santa Claus or magic. I dislike those people.

Or where feminists start measuring the waistline of the princess in the animation. And then tell everyone that their kids are screwed up from the day they start watching Disney flicks.

[–]antoinebugleboy 4 points5 points ago

Whoever made this is cherry-picking facts to push their agenda.

Animators draw their characters with a larger head-to-body size ratio because it makes them look more infantile/soft/friendly. Look at the size of her eyes. These are all features that are consistent with babies. It has nothing to do with her waist or trying to make her look skinny.

Why did they single out her waist and not her chest? Her chest is the same width as her head. Isn't a chest that's 6.5" in width something to be concerned about?

[–]Anti-Flag-Pro-Vegan 3 points4 points ago

Oh you'll never please some people. Even if you made it 100% realistic they'll still nitpick that it's not creative enough.

come on... none of the anime/manga I watched growing up was anatomically plausible. It's like reading mythology and yelling they were not real, fuck this shit.

A chest-to-waist ratio is more pertinent than head-to-waist. Look at the ratio between her head and her chest, for example. Why aren't they concerned that Rapunzel has a 6.5" wide chest?

She has a big head, because she's a cartoon, and animators know that making characters seem more baby-like will generate empathy.

And that fucking mouse looks nothing like a mouse.

[–]VictusNex 0 points1 point ago

Don't be an idiot. A pixar character is stylized, not realistic. This is like measuring Sandy the Squirrel's proportions from Spongebob and saying it tells little girls they're fucked up.

[–]Anti-Flag-Pro-Vegan 1 point2 points ago

HEY! Cool the fuck down! I wasn't saying this. Some feminazi made this. I don't agree with this and I don't think every feminist agrees with this line of thinking.

[–]VictusNex 4 points5 points ago

My bad then, I apologize. Sorry for the insult. Jumped the gun, I suppose.

[–]Anti-Flag-Pro-Vegan 1 point2 points ago

No problem. It's all good.

[–]antoinebugleboy 0 points1 point ago

Not to mention that it's very likely that some of the children know that the guard is playing along, but appreciate it anyway.

[–]richworks 3 points4 points ago

sorry for adding this irrelevant comment but can anyone please tell me what's the source for the painting on the right?

[–]TobiasMX[!] 6 points7 points ago

The painting on the right was done by Shitty_Watercolor

Thank you :)

I've met some fantastic employees in WDW, just like this security guard. One of the things I enjoy best about our vacations there, is stopping and talking to them. They always have something interesting to share with you.

An old man filled us in on the life stories of some monkeys in Animal Kingdom. In that same park, a young woman told me to wait behind a moment to see a big, noisy bird emerge from the bushes (he only comes out when he thinks everyone is gone). In the Magic Kingdom we chatted with saxophone players, who then gave us an impromptu concert. A town square bell-ringer loudly celebrated my teenaged son's birthday to his intense embarrassment and our delight. And once, while we were waiting to be let into Disney Studios, my husband got into an in-depth conversation with a Disney employee (an older gentleman) about his father's work in mining (my husband's an engineer). We were only enjoying the conversation and not expecting anything, but just before the rope dropped the man suddenly asked us if we'd like to be the first family on the Toy Story ride!

I love the people we've met at Disney. They always seem genuinely happy to get to know you.
