There's no similar laptop. Specs mean nothing in engineering terms. Just as cars there are more things than horse power, suspension and breaks.

Take into account that when a computer uses new technology you have to pay for the exclusivity and the research that went into building that product. Did you notice that Macbooks pros were the first ones to use aluminum unibody designs? A design being copied by its competitors.

Can you name me any other laptops that use a Retina Display? It maybe expensive but it's innovative and pushes the market towards a better end.

Apple has no real competitors in its area. As it's one of the few companies actively innovating. And there are no laptops with the same specs at half the price. Can you find me one that uses an unibody design, looks as good, has retina display, it's as small and thin, uses the newest generation of intel processors, has a big glass trackpad, back lit keyboard, usb 3.0 and basically everything you can want in a laptop. You can't because it doesn't exist!

With the iMacs it's the same can you find a computer that has a 27' inch IPS display that runs on 2560x1440 with the CPU integrated in the monitor and no cables? No you can't because it doesn't exist.

Now you've been enlightened but if you can't understand why those things are considered valuable by people who have the money to buy them then I can't help you.
