this looks to be the most sequelrific a sequel has ever been

[–]StormKid 1 point2 points ago

I'm willing to speculate that torchlight 2 will be integrated with the steam workshop as well. All hail the modding community and the glorious PC master race!

I thought I remembered reading a comment from a dev that was leaning more towards steam workshop being supported, but this is all I can find:

We are talking about it. Can't promise anything but we all agree it would be cool.

For someone who has never played Torchlight, but loved all the old diablos, how does this stack up against it? I know it was made by the same people. What is the tone like? What is the setting? It looks rather cartoony.

It's more lighthearted then D3, but who needs grittiness when you have a better game?

[–]x2mirko 5 points6 points ago

you can also have a better game than d3 that's even way grittier and darker than d3 - check out path of exile. I'm playing the beta of PoE and got TL2 on pre-order. Love both approaches :)

I saw the cynical brit play it, didn't really strike an interest in me. Looked to bland.

[–]x2mirko 2 points3 points ago

well, i guess tastes are different. However, if your first impression of it was that it looked "bland" then i'd still suggest you to check it out a bit more carefully - for it is not. There are a lot of design decisions that might not be for everyone, and i could absolutely understand dismissing it because of those, but in my opinion, the video of total biscuit didn't do it justice :)

[–]Jakex203 1 point2 points ago

+1 karma for you not being like "OMG DIFFERENT OPINION! DOWNVOTED!" If biscuits vid didn't do it any justice then I might go check it out :)

It does a lot of things quite differently than other games.

62 musical tracks!!... I'm sold.

[–]briliad 2 points3 points ago

As someone who burned the Diablo 2 music (which they gave away for free) into a CD, Matt Uelmen is one of the main reasons I pre-ordered.

[–]Industrialbonecraft 3 points4 points ago

And no RMAH...

[–]kbt 0 points1 point ago

Just to clarify, do you see that as a plus or a minus?

[–]Industrialbonecraft 3 points4 points ago

A plus. Undoubtedly a plus.

Perhaps it wouldn't be a bad thing if Blizzard had left the drop rates alone. but greed will win out in these matters.

So much new content...

[–]purplezebra98 0 points1 point ago

I'm so exited for this game!

[–]True_Zerodyne 0 points1 point ago

If only they'd actually release it...

[–]Ol1BoT 1 point2 points ago

Can someone make a comparison between Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3?

Would be interesting to see.

[–]estradz21 0 points1 point ago

oh my this is a good sign but release it before GW 2 does :D

[–]Avelle 0 points1 point ago

Once they announce a release date I might pre-purchase it.... Looks better than D3 to me

[–]chunes 0 points1 point ago

It's not the quantity that matters. It's not even necessarily the quality of the assets. The most important thing to a game is how they all interact. The best games have elements that can interact in many ways to produce unpredictable results.
