    It's an excellent spectator sport once you understand the basics; it's even better if you're drunk and rooting for your favorite team. Although I've never been able to get past the fake injuries bullshit -- there SHOULD be replays, and people SHOULD be carded for clearly faking being hurt. The soccer powers that be are stubborn, and don't want to change anything, but Goddammit, WHY NO REPLAYS?

    I heard that the reason there are no replays is so that the game they play professionally requires no more equipment than a ball, a stopwatch, and some kind of goal markers. This makes it so when you go to the park with some buddies, you're playing "just like the pros!"

    Still a load of bullshit, professional soccer needs replays to stop this ridiculous acting.

    It's a fast pace game, If the refs had to review a play it would slow down the match. The only reason replays are allowed in football (american) is because it is split into quarters so there can be commercials.

    Then have people watching video behind the scene? They review calls of faking injuries, etc. and if they find it to be the case. The person responsible gets a yellow or red card. Doesn't slow the game and more people will stop faking.

    Again, there is this ideology in FIFA and other associations that they want to make the professional game accessible and playable at all levels. I can set up a game of football in my town that follows all the guidelines of FIFA without any trouble. That's how lower leagues can exist. So until this type of technology becomes affordable for the average league, FIFA isn't going to be changing anything.

    This is a ridiculous reason for not allowing instant replay. American football has instant replay, but then there are minor leagues, college games, high school, and peewee (little children) games of that that don't have the instant replay. So what if you can't play it EXACTLY like the pros. Guess what! You're not playing like a pro unless you are a pro, regardless of what equipment you're using.

    But. They use Eagle Eye Cams and stuff for professional Tennis and American Football. It doesn't stop people from just getting a tennis racket and a couple of balls and a net to play Tennis. You can still play in the Minor Leagues. All it does is make the Major Leagues more pristine and rules enforced.

    I get soccer. I do. I've tried to watch it. My boyfriend's really into it. But soccer and hockey are just two sports I can't get behind. I love football because it's so complex. Football takes a well oiled machine and all the right movements and the right exactly placed blocks or passes...But it's action packed too. Doesn't put me to sleep.

    See, this is why there's a bunch of different sports! yay. I'm not asking you to agree with me. It's not football's fault the NFL sells out advertisements like the plague. But as soon as the snap goes everyone moves, everyone has to be at a certain place and you're just hoping for that one quick breakthrough. Mmm, I love it. Hockey has the same type of feel to it, I agree..but I can NEVER and I mean NEVER see where the puck is or tell when a good "move" has been made. I can't dissect the plays the way I can football.

    Hockey is way more action packed than football. It just takes some time to get used to in order to really see whats happening. But even if you cant see all that yet, there's some intense hits, and scoring is always awesome.

    Football is great, but hockey is wayy more exciting.

    Although the concept of putting a round object of some sort into a net is shared between the two sports, you have to admit that hockey is, at very least, more intriguing based on the simple fact that things happen quickly and violently. Kind of like Football actually...

    Although I would agree that the depth of strategy in Football is second to no other sport. It's like a giant chess match with hulking 300 pound men that want to kill each other.

      This is why I was never able to get into football. That doesn't even factor in the commercials either.

      As far as sports go, I'm more a fan of combat sports like fencing, boxing, martial arts sort of things (real ones, not "pro wrestling"). If I'm gonna watch something on TV, it'd probably be something like Ninja Warrior. I know, I know it's overly cheesy, but it manages to hold my attention better than most other highly-televised sports.

      That's originally made to be the Italian training, hence the Ferrari and the falling. Doesn't really apply to the German team either, they play remarkably fair, in my opinion.

      To be fair, the Italians played really fair and really well in this years Euro-Cup, too,vespecially considering how they played in the 2006 World Cup, where they spent half the game lying on the grass, moaning and bitching after no contact whatsoever, trying to gain an unfair advantage.

        So many ignorant idiots in this thread. The guy in the blue didn't 'go down for no reason'. He couldn't follow through with the shot because the guys nuts were in the way. He lost balance because he couldn't execute the shot, causing him to fall. He's not holding his leg or anything.

        Just cause a player goes down doesn't mean he's faking anything. If anything he was limiting the damage to the other guy by taking his foor out and not following though.

        Watch the gif slowly, his leg is very over extended because there is no resistance from the ball. Probably has minor ligament damage or shock.
