Last time this pic was posted the OP got a lot of flak for it so let me explain some things.

The dog's buried sideways, you can easily see the lumpy ground shaping the dog in the second picture.

The dog's breathing would cause cracks in the dirt, so it's pretty safe to assume it could easily stand up and get out of that. Because it's padded down by hands though, it looks deeper than it is.

E: Not to mention that the dog was genuinely happy in it, and the thick fur it obviously has would provide ample padding in case of discomfort as well.

Also if you look, people are wearing shorts, usually means its warm outside. For a dog, warm = hot. Underground, even a few inches, is going to be very cool. So the dog probably likes this.

If you look close you can see the dog is laying on its side and not actually buried in a hole. Plus, the dog doesn't seem to mind to much since it would probably just get up if it did.

This was all covered the first time the pic was posted. The dog's only buried under something like 2 inches of dirt, you can even see the outline of its body in the ground laying on its side. The dog could get up and leave without any issues in a heartbeat. Only reason it doesn't is cause it enjoys the attention.
