That number is way, way, way, way low. Probably by a couple orders of magnitude. The Hittites alone had at least a thousand documented deities of various forms. Add in all the local deities of the classical period and you're well over this number without even trying.

He's saying that religious people can be considered atheists too. I thought this subreddit was about atheism and I just thought you guys might think it was kind of an interesting view on atheism. Also Ricky Gervais is an atheist
