If you have a Mac or Linux machine, it's pretty easy. Just download ffmpeg and ImageMagick (it's also doable on Windows, but easier to do with Mac/Linux, ffmpeg and ImageMagick can be downloaded with homebrew, macports, or apt-get on Mac/Linux).

  1. Convert a video clip to .pngs with ffmpeg (change 15 to whatever framerate you want)

    ffmpeg video.mp4 -r 15 *.png

  2. Convert the pngs to a gif with imagemagick

    convert *.png animated.gif

Let me put it like this. The the almighty /r/all consists of posts from all places. /r/pics, /r/funny, /r/askreddit, ect. From /r/all, each new subreddit you enter becomes more and more specific. /r/funny allows gifs. So it could belong here. But lets say you want only reaction gifs? Then go to /r/reactiongifs. But what if you want only reaction gifs featuring leonardo dicaprio? Well then, go to /r/leoreactiongifs. Point being, subreddits become more specific to keep themselves clean, not more broad subreddits like /r/funny.

How about for a more accurate analysis, do it for only people who we're likely to interact with in our daily lives. As in, number of people on reddit who are 20-30 and are educated, middle/upper class VERSUS number of people in the world who are the same.

It's pretty common.

33% Of Redditors have a Bachelors degree or higher, about 11,550,000. About 470,821,270 people in the world have college degrees. 2.7% are Redditors.

28% Of Redditors would be considered upper/middle class, about 9,800,000, By U.S standard people living in the upper/middle class are about 1% of the world, we'll call it 1%, 70,271,831. Redditors make up 13%.

30% Of Redditors are between the age or 20-30, which is about 10,500,000. There are roughly 1,276,779,997 people between the age of 20-30 in the world. So .8% are Redditors

So if you have a room full of every Educated Upper/Middle class 20-30 year old, 5.5% of them will be Redditors

Very interesting. It really seems like Reddit is in a fairly good place when it comes to traffic.

Compared to other major internet sites, the numbers seem to suggest that Reddit falls just outside the mainstream; which is arguably where a lot of Redditors would like to be.

I dread this. All these things belong online, and what always happens is they don't announce it, but instead reference a meme and then when the majority of people don't get it, the guy will try to explain it to them. It is excruciating.
