this is apparently a more common practice in Japan where customers take extra care not to mess up the piles

[–]StratorTheAdmin 2 points3 points ago

When I try to not mess up the pile someone comes & finds it for me. It's nice being nice.

as a former 'clothing store employee', those stacks look fucking terrible.

[–]McDonutz 0 points1 point ago

As a current 'clothing store employee'; it's fucking hard to do and harder still to make it neat

[–]BlackDave 7 points8 points ago

And then comes in douchebag teenager or careless mother to ruin the day

[–]widarlein 4 points5 points ago

It's even the same title?

True story. This sort of thing happens all the fucking time in Japan.

I went and bought some dirty mags one afternoon while I was there (in Akihabara), and the guy who was ringing me up and bagging them was treating them like they were delicate porcelain and stacking them in the bag so that they couldn't move and get jostled and bent...

This sort of obsessive customer service is really nice to see. Contrasting with when I got back home and went to a local food joint and all the servers treated me like a huge inconvenience that I would dare come in to their place of employment and ask them to perform a service in exchange for my money.

Hell, in Japan, when you get money from the bank/exchange, they have these little trays to put them in. The point is that it's easier to pick them out of the trays with this rubbery nubbly lining than it is to pick flat paper bills off a flat hard counter.

I loved that place.

Also, not a single fat person was seen in a month. That was pretty amazing.

[–]ramen_feet 0 points1 point ago

no, the reason for the tray is so you don't have to touch hands. True story. I have to agree with the obsessive customer support though, all service workers are super super friendly.

[–]Mac_OS_X_Kitteh -1 points0 points ago

You bought dirty mags? Couldn't you get free porn from the Internet in Japan?

[–]Doctor_Twinkletits 0 points1 point ago

You can get it free here too. Just as Japanese and kinky, too.

[–]chuhai 0 points1 point ago

Going to places like Akihabara is totally worth it. Japanese porn shops are freaking awesome to go into, and not at all like the creepy US stores. Aw, I miss Japan.

Also, Uniqlo is fucking great. $5 t-shirts and hundreds upon hundreds (I'm not exaggerating) of leggings to choose from.

[–]ruled_by_fear -1 points0 points ago

I don't know how you've managed not to notice... but I have to tell you. If it radically changes your life in frightening and unpredictable ways, I'm sorry. But I think this will work out okay in the end.... So, here goes:

You can get free porn from the internet from every country in the world.

[–]Mac_OS_X_Kitteh 0 points1 point ago

That was my point.

[–]rare_umbreon 11 points12 points ago

[–]mamajamerson 1 point2 points ago

Bored clothing store employee

FTFY

[–]4danno 2 points3 points ago

This. He was probably bored at work and didn't want his supervisor to tell him to do something he didn't want to do so he make the T-shirts look all pretty. That's how it would work in America at least.

[–]ANinjasEerierEnemy 1 point2 points ago

This was standard practice for T-shirts and sweatshirts when I worked at PacSun ten years ago. Did this all day long with Billabong and Quiksilver logos.
