do you know the milkman? (you will get it later on...)

[–]gmoneygangster3 7 points8 points ago

this is tied with a lot for best mission in any game i have ever played

[–]Dravorek 4 points5 points ago

But I'll be damned if it isn't the longest level of them all if you are searching all the figments (or napoleons stage, depends on your luck I guess). But just fyi, I think it's not worth it trying to get them all

[–]somethingsomethingso 4 points5 points ago

There is a tiny figment stuck in a basketball hoop in the sewer in the matador level. It took me years and multiple play throughs to find it.

[–]VivoDePyre 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, that and the figment under the tree in waterloo world. Who puts a figment that far out of the way?

Still, I can look proudly upon my rank 101 save file and say it was worth it-ish.

[–]somethingsomethingso 0 points1 point ago

I found that one without a problem the first time I played, but was stuck on it forever the second. I wish the "which figment I've already found" screen had a numbering system or something, so you could cheat using a guide a little easier.

[–]VivoDePyre 0 points1 point ago

Yeah. The figment guides use page:row:column but it's a bit of a pain. They really should have a dowsing rod item that points to the the nearest figment.

[–]somethingsomethingso 0 points1 point ago

Well, what is the other one?

[–]gmoneygangster3 0 points1 point ago

the other 5 are various if you want a list ask

[–]somethingsomethingso 0 points1 point ago

Sure, I'd be interested in hearing which others are your favorite, as we definitely agree on this one.

[–]gmoneygangster3 0 points1 point ago

half life 2- ravenholm

fort frolic from bioshock

banjo kazooie/tooie as a whole i love all those levels like i love children cant pick one level/mission

super mario world-all of it.... just that whole game is a masterpiece

link to the past-see above

Gears of war 2 - the abandoned facility you blow open with the bomb case

resident evil 4- castle

i wracked my brain this is probably a decent chunk of my list let me know what ya think

[–]somethingsomethingso 0 points1 point ago

There were a couple in there I didn't play, but for the most part I would agree. Especially about Super Mario World being a masterpiece, I must have beaten that game 50 times (I would play it over and over again in college when I had a few minutes to kill).

[–]gmoneygangster3 0 points1 point ago

the feather power up sound is forever engrained in my memory xD

[–]11235813_ 2 points3 points ago

Why did you punch that little girl?

[–]toaster_waffle 0 points1 point ago

The milkman has made his delivery.

[–]reign_in123 0 points1 point ago

His milk is delicious

[–]BrokenBelief 9 points10 points ago

Just try not to get too mad at the Meat Circus.

[–]AbortusLuciferum 11 points12 points ago

I did fine there.

That's all. Just wanted to brag.

[–]Mustkunstn1k 2 points3 points ago

There was a Steam update that made it easier quite some time ago.

[–]thethingofcreepy 2 points3 points ago

It's still too hard for me. I raged after trying to get it for the 10th time. Never played it since

[–]VivoDePyre 0 points1 point ago

Which part? Climbing the cylinder? Saving the bunny?

[–]StayPuffGoomba 0 points1 point ago

Seriously? Son of a bitch! I played that MoFo back on the Xbox when the game first came out. Talk about rage.

[–]j0hn13 0 points1 point ago

"YOU CHEATED!"

[–]PinkiePi 6 points7 points ago

I never understood the whole Meat Circus criticism. It was pretty standard platforming

[–]Cuerzo 2 points3 points ago

Timed platforming. With not-too-tight controls. I didn't find it that bad either, but I can understand.

[–]BrokenBelief 2 points3 points ago

There was one part (involving a flame spiral) in which the camera would not cooperate with many gamers, and made the part damn near impossible. I've seen some videos of people getting a reasonable camera for the part, in which it would be NO problem at all, but many did not.

[–]zzorga 0 points1 point ago

I still haven't beaten that section yet.

[–]VivoDePyre 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, it was pretty tricky. My suggestion, hop on the inside of it. You'll take a bit of damage from landing on the fire patches, but you can get through. If you do take the outside, be sure to jump out far enough and double jump the distance back.

[–]11235813_ 4 points5 points ago

Stopped there about a month ago. Haven't played it since, too pissed.

[–]misterbung 0 points1 point ago

I played it through the first time on Xbox and really didn't have that much of a problem with it.
I recently went back to show a class how the levels are designed around character psyche (video games in a psych lecture, aw yeah) and goddamn is the platforming a bastard.

[–]Josmeister 0 points1 point ago

I thought I was the only one. First time in my life I've actually been tempted to throw the controller.

[–]sheetskees 0 points1 point ago

Meat circus is a lot easier.

[–]snowglider_wants_ram 9 points10 points ago

can someone explain what makes this game great? I think I want it but I am not sure

[–]ScootinFruity[S] 7 points8 points ago

Everything! The art style, the dialogue, the level design, the difficulty, the originality, EVERYTHING!

[–]comatose_frog 5 points6 points ago

Wait what?

[–]sneerpeer 2 points3 points ago

I think the save is numbered as "A" and is at the bottom of the list.

[–]nukeforyou 3 points4 points ago

I'd say its the dialogue alone that made it an amazing game, not to say that everything else isnt good, but I just loved every interaction with the characters, especially Dogan.

[–]jacobwlawler 0 points1 point ago

Especially Dogan.

[–]toaster_waffle 1 point2 points ago

This is possibly my favorite game of all time. I picked it up in the Humble Bundle, and it was all I played for probably a month. It's original, wildly hilarious, probably the most fun I've had in a video game in a while, difficult, but not too much so, the dialogue is well-written, it's witty, and it... Just wow. I recommend it to anyone at any price. Even not on sale, it's well worth every cent.

[–]clayasaurus 1 point2 points ago

It's one of the few games that can pull off genuine humor and creativity.

[–]VivoDePyre 0 points1 point ago

To be more specific about some things:

The level design is brilliant. It doesn't feel like it's just a level that takes an element of the person and sprays it everywhere. The level really is a representation of the person's mind. Things like Milla's nightmare tucked away in a hidden section. The way paranoid schizophrenia is potrayed in the Milkman Conspiracy.

Then you have the dialogue and characters. To truly get the full extent of the game, explore the camp and talk to all the campers after each mission. The available dialogue changes often and is very funny. The main dialogue is among the best, but the side stuff is brilliant.

There are small details and features everywhere. After you get clairvoyance, you can see yourself through the eyes of other people. It usually displays a picture of you wit some kind of theme or perception from that animal/persons. Girl scouts see you as a creepy flasher, squirrels see you as a crazed maniac, etc.

Those are just the things that immediately stand out. Above all these things, it's a really fun platformer. It could carry it's own without the great writing and design, but not as the near masterpiece it's known to be.

[–]AsimovsBrokenRules 5 points6 points ago

Not gonna lie, I bought this from the indie bundle and again from steam. I love this game.

[–]Dravorek 3 points4 points ago

fyi the humble indie bundle gives you a steam redeemable code

[–]AsimovsBrokenRules 1 point2 points ago

If you pay for it. At the time I didn't. I didn't have steam. Then I heard about this summer sale. Here I am. Poor.

[–]Dovahkiin 1 point2 points ago

Dude I don't think you need to pay for the steam codes from humble indie bundle. At least I didn't. :/

[–]toaster_waffle 0 points1 point ago

It's something like a dollar. You have to pay a dollar to get the steam codes.

[–]AsimovsBrokenRules 0 points1 point ago

They asked for a dollar to get the steam codes. I didn't want to give money to steam at the time so I gave it all to the devs and humble bundle.

[–]Josmeister 0 points1 point ago

you could have increased your money in the humble bundle, works even after it's done.

[–]maxakraken 5 points6 points ago

GO RAZ!!!! YA RAZ!!!!!

That will always be embedded into my brain -_-

[–]Dhexodus 2 points3 points ago

PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH!!!!

[–]maxakraken 1 point2 points ago

Beating that part with all the wooden guys was nearly impossible because of them would have been soooo much easier if they weren't there.

[–]McCallister 4 points5 points ago

What tips (without spoilers) do you have for first time players?

[–]Reazel 5 points6 points ago

Clairvoyance is only used in a handful of puzzles, but pretty-much every NPC sees Raz as something different.

[–]Livingwind 0 points1 point ago

The best thing to to IMO is 100% the first few levels and areas because after that things start to get really complicated. This is also because psychokinesis is one of the most handy things to have.

[–]McCallister 0 points1 point ago

What is considered 100%? Is it clear to see your progress in the menu?

[–]Livingwind 1 point2 points ago

A hundo on the first few is collect all figments and baggage. (You cant collect cobwebs until you whore yourself out for money)

[–]bbandolier 3 points4 points ago

Send the art director some love and buy some of his art: (Scott C)[http://www.pyramidcar.com/]
He's pretty much the greatest.

[–]Chickenfoot117 2 points3 points ago

Amazing game.

[–]Oolong-TeA 2 points3 points ago

Just finished this the other day, such a great game.

[–]munky_quack 2 points3 points ago

I heard they nerfed the butcher boss level, that shit was impossible!

[–]DexManchez 1 point2 points ago

Hilarious game!

[–]Gesso_u_know 1 point2 points ago

omg i bought this game too i cant wait to start playing it, heard so many great things about it

[–]Spencer455446 1 point2 points ago

I am the milkman my milk is delicious!

[–]Mannex 1 point2 points ago

this game is amazing. black velvetopia ftw

[–]GldRush98 1 point2 points ago

I got a solid hour in to this game and fail to see what is so amazing about it. It honestly bored me and I have no desire to continue playing it.

[–]Dravorek 1 point2 points ago

I can relate, did the same thing a few months ago when I got it with the indie bundle. But I gave it another chance a few weeks ago and I found it quite endearing after a while, the quirkiness grows on you and the game-play is decent. It's not really revolutionary in any sense but it's certainly unique (which is probably why people make such a deal about it)

I also started playing costume quest recently it has the same double fine charme but as an RPG it's fairly shallow

[–]comatose_frog 1 point2 points ago

keep going the first level is meh, they get creative

[–]sheetskees 1 point2 points ago

What? Basic braining was a great level.

[–]comatose_frog 0 points1 point ago

It was okay, but nothing compared to that technological one, or the milkman, or the fiesta one.

[–]Bhavnarnia 1 point2 points ago

Why the downvotes? He has a point. The beginning is a little slow. But that's just the beginning. The game really comes into its element after the first hour. The characters, the voice acting, the levels and the powers are really well done and the game still feels fresh and new despite being 6 years old.

[–]RevRay 0 points1 point ago

Probably because people think he's giving up too early.

[–]urandomdude 1 point2 points ago

I has the same experience. Now it's just sitting there, no interest in playing.

[–]clayasaurus 0 points1 point ago

Probably because you haven't seen the game?

[–]ScruffyMagic 0 points1 point ago

The beginning is boring as hell, but you should really stick with it. The game is terrific once you start getting more powers and going into the more inventive levels. I ended up giving up on it after the first level until picking it up again later and I cannot be more happy with my choice.

[–]Gunpla00 0 points1 point ago

I remember counting the minutes down to the release on this game. My friend and I had no idea what it was but we came across the ARG..best game of my childhood...kinda funny watching everybody now playing it going "Oh wow whats this game?!"

[–]mildiii 0 points1 point ago

Spent a lot of time on vacation in Hawaii playing this game the first time. No shame in it either because its an amazing game.

[–]jackdapogo 0 points1 point ago

I've had this game for a long time but haven't played. Time to play tommorow.

[–]comatose_frog 0 points1 point ago

MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU WANT TO 100% YOU DO IT FAIRLY EARLY INTO THE GAME AS THE MAIN AREA BECOMES HARDER AND SOME OTHER PLACES GO AWAY ONCE IT GETS DARK OUT. i'm done yelling

[–]Madwac 0 points1 point ago

Wait wtf Did it go on flash sale and i missed it? GOD DAMMIT

[–]wingdem 0 points1 point ago

Never played it yet but i will defently looking forward it, heard so many good things

[–]antmanlav 0 points1 point ago

Chaaaaaaaaaaaarge!!!!!!!!!!!!.......(BOOM!!)

[–]Maeur1 0 points1 point ago

This game is da bomb and anyone who has the money should get it. It seriously is one of the best games i have ever played. Why? It is downright hilarious and it has a nice RPG play style. The story is great and the graphics aren't the best, but still passable. Oh and did I mention its hilarious?

[–]cr1sis77 0 points1 point ago

I got this with the latest Humble Indie Bundle but still haven't started playing it. I really should check it out.

[–]relder17 0 points1 point ago

This is my number one go-to game to give away to Steam friends. One of my all time favorite games.

[–]ScootinFruity[S] 0 points1 point ago

Well I didn't know Richard Horvitz voiced Raz either, so that made me even more compelled to play the game.

[–]Josmeister 0 points1 point ago

just finished this fucking masterpiece yesterday. Only thing I didn't like was that the platforming in the latter levels was frustrating as fuck, it seems as if it wasn't playtested as much as the rest of the game. Other than that, awesome game, great story, characters and gameplay

[–]HexCodeHarry 0 points1 point ago

Soooooooooo fun man. Just bought it last week almost done with it. :)

[–]itxploded 0 points1 point ago

YEEES!!! <3

[–]batman_williams 0 points1 point ago

Holy crap yes, I started playing it briefly, but stopped because I suck at playing on the PC. It was so magical for that brief time though, I can't believe I waited this long.

[–]MrEzekial 0 points1 point ago

Sleeper hits are always awesome to find, especially if they are on sale :D

[–]TheMarshmallow 0 points1 point ago

I know I'm going to get masses of downvotes, but honestly I have no idea what you guys are going so crazy over.

The art design is pretty similar to every other mmo-esque game I've played, and although the mind levels are fun, the free-roam really sucks. I can't count the amount of times I've just been told to do something in free roam for the story to progress and have no idea how to do it, and only after hours of looking through 5 year old almost indecipherable text guides been able to find where I need to go.

As for difficulty, all of it that I've played I haven't found anything that really challenged me (frustrated =/= challenged), although props for some simply amazing gameplay mechanics in some of the levels.

The story is meh IMO. Its a nice idea and damn its original but its not really portrayed very well throughout the game. Outside of cutscenes, you will have other kids call the same three phrases at you over and over again which becomes incredibly tedious.

It has a sort of quirkiness to it I guess which gave me a few hours of good gameplay. It feels fresh and original, but its not really anything revolutionary or "out of the box" so to speak. Before somebody says that the beginning is boring and I gave up too quickly, I've played a good 10 hours of it and even when I go back to it I still don't much like it.

I can feel the downvotes already.

[–]All5claws 0 points1 point ago

What kind of game is Psychonauts? I've never had the chance to play it and I was wondering what actually do in the game.

[–]Rebootkid 0 points1 point ago

Got it with the humble bundle 5. For some reason, the game freezes every time at the brain tank battle.

Still not sure why. Uninstalled and re-installed, dies in the same spot.

[–]ScootinFruity[S] 0 points1 point ago

On meat circus. Got pissed off. Almost broke my controller. You guys weren't kidding.

[–]polar0ids 0 points1 point ago

I've got this on the XBOX and on Steam and have played neither, but would like to start. Is there a notable difference between the two / is one buggier / etc? Just trying to figure out which version i should actually play through.

[–]TheGreenReaper 0 points1 point ago

I just finished it after 2 long weeks.

Please don't downvote me I'll be as constructive as I can be.

Firstly the game didn't let me move the camera with the mouse so I used my Xbox 360 Controller which resulted in clusmy controls.I also got stuck about 4 times and needed to restart the game. While the story was very interesting with all the characters very appealing I thought it was a very childish story.Love between 10 years old ? I did not like. The jokes were bad.Furthermore the so called "angry dad" saved Raz at the end.Raz made him seem like a very bad dad and when he came so helpful it was just pathetic.Changing between powers was in the pain ass,why can't I use the D-pad.

Sorry if you don't share my opinions and if I offended anyone. This game could have been a masterpiece,a game as an art,but it just made me want to stop playing more than twice.

[–]CPC324 0 points1 point ago

Dammit when was this on sale? Guess I missed it...

[–]2001SpaceChaser -1 points0 points ago

I wish I could upvote this through the roof

[–]meh65535 -2 points-1 points ago

Crap, I paid 5$
