As a somewhat experienced climber, I purport that it was done for show. At that level of skill, he could have easily made the jump to that hold. It is apparent from the footage even that he isn't really trying...

It's still awesome, just not necessary.

yea agreed, he wouldn't do a humongous thrust lunge like that, touch the hold but not grab it, and then fall a few feet only to grab the hold he had lunged from on the way down- unintentionally. he was putting on a show. i've seen this guy flying up this wall dozens of times. for real WOAH DUDE, look up Alain Roberts and Dan Osman!!

Agreed. If anyone wants to see some real climbing check out Alex Honnold too. Best in the world right now for free solo climbing ( that means no ropes no gear up a giant mountain).

Last time this video was posted people were saying that the wall is slanted somewhat significantly, which would make it easier. Is this true?

yes even a slight slant( downhill, not overhang ) makes things dramatically easier by giving you that much of an advantage from gravity pulling you down ON to the cliff( and giving you friction from your weight and the surface area of your feet ) instead of pulling you OFF.

Lots of good climbers have longer arms. I see people at my gym talking about a "+1" or "+2" something all the time. Means your wingspan is +whatever longer than your height.

Also, I think it's good for swimmers. If I recall correctly, Michael Phelps has the wingspan of someone 6'9" but is "only" 6'4".
