Speaking as an American, Wales sorta seems like the Canada of...Great Britain? I was never quite clear on what the name for the full islands was.

Of course, I mean in a good way for the Wales-Canada comparison.

'Cause I can't resist, here's a little run-down of the UK's name. The physical islands are called the British Isles, the largest being Great Britain. The full name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The constituent countries are essentially Scotland, England, Wales, and N. Ireland, though Wales has been joined on to England for a very long time, so it's more about Scotland and England being united to form Great Britain, with a bit of Ireland thrown in for fun.

So if you're from Britain the island you can call yourself British, or Welsh, English etc. (Interesting side-note: Only the Welsh, back when we were the unwashed natives, were called the British.)

If you're from N. Ireland, I imagine you'd call yourself Irish, though obviously you're a UK citizen.

So yes. You are correct. :) I shall now return to sipping my tea and tutting.

Nahh I don't think there is any there luckily for you. I live in southern England, seriously it's been raining here for that last month straight and this is this is the sunniest region in the UK.

Not so much in Swansea, its too hilly here. Aberystwyth and that area had some bad floods not too long ago.

Where in Swansea you going? Gower? You should be okay, the ground is very sandy so it doesn't flood much

There's loads to do and see in Swansea/around Gower. Depends how far you want to travel I suppose.

Some of the best beaches around, I personally like Llangennith/Rhossili. Climbing onto the Worms head (check tide times though, if you do this! if the tide comes in, you'll be stuck out!) or Oxwich.

There's loads to do in Swansea depending on what you like, ask a question at /r/Swansea or /r/Wales for a better answer than I can give
