Best. Celebration. Ever.

[–]redds56101 317 points318 points ago

Well you haven't seen this.

[–]mattmc318 255 points256 points ago

Poor number 5. :(

[–]redds56101 186 points187 points ago

I never realised how bad he has it. Goes in to hug the scorer, nope. Gets pushed out of the way. 'So I just pick him up lik- oh, OK, you can do it.. I'll just back away now. I'm here if you need me.' Poor guy.

[–]Conradfr 36 points37 points ago

Even in this one #5 is kinda apart !

[–]Ax3boy 34 points35 points ago

It's crazy, because top comment on this video is "no. 5 finally gets to do something", and that's from 5 months ago.

I now realize how reddit is a perpetual recycler of jokes, videos and reposts.

[–]Conradfr 3 points4 points ago

Oh yeah, didn't read the comments.

I must say I saw these guys on TV etc but never read or heard anything about 5, so it's at least new to me :)

[–]Ax3boy 0 points1 point ago

I don't blame you, I just find it funny how people keep coming with the same stuff over and over again.

[–]xxxblindxxx 1 point2 points ago

Its not the same stuff to them if they post it. Why must every word and phrase used in a common fashion must be ostracized? He made an observation with his own thoughts. Atleast he didnt copy the top comment to make karma. God forbid.

[–]memo_rx 0 points1 point ago

Reddit it's just like fashion...just with memes and videos...and cats.

[–]DSSCRA 0 points1 point ago

I made it to the front page with a copy pasted youtube comment.

[–]had3l 1 point2 points ago

You forgot the part where number 29 kicks him after he is rejected

[–]mayormikehaggar 21 points22 points ago

in this one it looks like number 5 is just tired of everyone's shit

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mjz5c4iO_o&feature=relmfu

[–]JediMstrMyk 13 points14 points ago

In this one, number 5 is left out as well :(

[–]Happylime 1 point2 points ago

Poor number 5, no friends because he's odd numbered!

[–]chestypants12 28 points29 points ago

On my second viewing all I saw was number 5. The clip wasn't as funny. :(

[–]Misio 1 point2 points ago

God dammit. I completely missed that.

[–]Basically_Wrong 0 points1 point ago

It gives me solace in imagining he is a huge douche off the field and that's why they don't include him.

[–]Mr_Titicaca 12 points13 points ago

I think we need a sports celebrations subreddit.

[–]Dick_Delicious 2 points3 points ago

These are hilarious. thisone cracks me up every time.

[–]sydneygamer 1 point2 points ago

OK that was the best team celebration ever, this was the best solo celebration ever.

[–]249ba36000029bbe9749 1 point2 points ago

Those guys are pretty funny. I have to admit that if I were a fan I'd look forward to what they came up with for that game. As an opponent's fan I'd think they were just assholes. Also, celebrating after a PK seems cheesy.

[–]xxleadinglifexx -3 points-2 points ago

This is why soccer is such a great sport

[–]USxMARINE 6 points7 points ago

Because of a funny celebration that happens rarely?

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]Gumbo72 6 points7 points ago

I will bet 100,000 karma on it, even at 1/100 odds.

What a badass.

[–]offconstantly 61 points62 points ago

I love this one right after they got a penalty for excessive celebration.

[–]Interwhat 5 points6 points ago

I have no idea what the fuck was happening in that video.

[–]offconstantly 6 points7 points ago

They got an excessive celebration penalty earlier in the game, so as to not get another one, Aldon Smith sacked the quarterback and sprinted to the bench without celebrating a tiny bit, as a sarcastic statement.

[–]MyNameCouldntBeAsLon 20 points21 points ago

I hate penalties for 'excessive celebration'. I love the NFL, but it's an entertaniment business. The excess exposure that comes with celebrations in ESPN's Top 10 coud only be beneficial for the league.

[–]Minyme2009 8 points9 points ago

Exactly, what was more entertaining than Randy Moss fake mooning the crowd? That was fucking hilarious!

Link

Sorry about the video quality, but I'm sure you remember the days before HDTV.

[–]MyNameCouldntBeAsLon 2 points3 points ago

Yeah I remember that, I honestly thought it was funny.

I was much more partial towards T.O.'s and Cha's antics though, their celebrations always had a little extra 'ooph'.

Funnily enough, a movie I really like that (I think) portrays Football in a realistic manner, has a montage of ridiculous and over the top celebrations that suggest the team is doing great in the season. As boost for morale, or cohesion between the players. The movie, btw is Any Given Sunday.

[–]Scuzzzy 4 points5 points ago

God I hated Joe Buck's "outrage" at that. What a buffoon.

[–]Suddenly_Something 4 points5 points ago

Remember when Chad (Johnson at the time) wore his special cleats with pictures of him catching touchdowns on them and got fined a bunch for it? Just let them have some fun.

Picture

[–]Scuzzzy 2 points3 points ago

Sometimes the NFL takes itself too seriously.

[–]svenhoek86 2 points3 points ago

I dislike the Bengals, and by extension Johnson, but he was always entertaining. Him and TO knew how to celebrate.

IMO nothing tops TO putting a sharpie in his socks and signing the ball after he scored. That was fucking awesome.

[–]Deracination 1 point2 points ago

It was on photobucket...and now it's gone.

[–]svenhoek86 2 points3 points ago

Exactly. I get the argument that it's unsportsmanlike to the other team, but these are GROWN MEN, not emotionally fragile 14-18 year old kids. If another team is angry about an excessive celebration, they should stop giving the other team reasons to celebrate.

I hate how PC everything has to be in order to appeal to every little niche market available.

[–]jcos444 1 point2 points ago

To be clear. He got a the excessive celebration earlier in the game not after this video takes place. You worded it right...just the way I read it I interpreted it incorrectly.

[–]KyleBiem 3 points4 points ago

How is that excessive celebration? He did what he was supposed to do after a play, but just in a speedier manner.

[–]AnimalsTrollToo 25 points26 points ago

"right after"

[–]KyleBiem 9 points10 points ago

Ah. My mind added a period after one. I read it as two separate sentences.

[–]2wenty4our7even 17 points18 points ago

What OP was saying is that on the down before that play, the defensive team (49ers) got penalized for excessive celebration. So the following play (the video clip) the guy made the sac and just sprinted off the field and acted like nothing happened. Kind of an act of sarcasm I guess.

[–]ForeverAvailable 3 points4 points ago

This happened AFTER he had already gotten a penalty for excessive celebration. This is him avoiding getting another penalty.

[–]ashyjakk 22 points23 points ago

[–]neon_kid 4 points5 points ago

Rourke just doesn't give a fuck.

[–]voiceinthedesert 2 points3 points ago

After getting penalized earlier in the game for "excessive" celebration, Aldon Smith did this after his second sack of the game.

[–]lomelyo 0 points1 point ago

[–]AptMoniker 82 points83 points ago

A good celebration straddles the lines between hilarious and unsportsmanlike. "Oh, yes that was very good."

[–]WontonSuwoop 54 points55 points ago

He should play for Stjarnan F.C.

[–]chizzle 41 points42 points ago

Their practices: 10% football, 80% celebration planning

[–]hagboo 32 points33 points ago

And 10%...?

[–]lunacraz 41 points42 points ago

[–]tseepra 4 points5 points ago

Most of their goals do seem to come from penalties :D

[–]Tannerthejay 4 points5 points ago

Thank you, for brightening my day 10 fold.

[–]EnglishPhoenix 2 points3 points ago

I want to get drunk with those guys.

[–]Daveyd325 0 points1 point ago

Some blindingly blonde people there

[–]A_Hippie 0 points1 point ago

They're like the Harlem Globetrotters of Soccer.

[–]destinorth 28 points29 points ago

Worth the yellow

[–]slatterboy 2 points3 points ago

What is the yellow for here? Is it leaving the pitch?

[–]onheartattackandvine 10 points11 points ago

Excessive celebration. You're not allowed to doing any sort of over the top celebretations as it takes time and because of that isn't seen as very good sportmanship. Though in many cases people take the yellow because it's just "worth it".

[–]Astograph 2 points3 points ago

He gets a yellow card for leaving the field of play, I've never heard of "excessive celebration" in association football.

[–]gnur 0 points1 point ago

Well, in the Dutch league there is such a thing. Mostly players get yellow for taking of their shirts.

[–]wintersleep13 2 points3 points ago

Came to say this. Saw you said it first. Congratulations.

[–]twitinkie 51 points52 points ago

whenever i see football goal celebrations, why does it seem like they're always running away from their own teammates?

[–]Felix_Austria_nube 173 points174 points ago

Because that's exactly what they do. You either run or you end up at the bottom of a pile

[–]sjk97 15 points16 points ago

They're usually running towards the fans.

[–]kevinquach12345 27 points28 points ago

I think I found my new favorite gif

[–]Still-a-lurker -3 points-2 points ago

A new favorite 3 fucking MB gif! At that point, just link to the video!

Edit: Typo

[–]arakcheev 2 points3 points ago

Huh?

[–]Still-a-lurker 0 points1 point ago

Yeah I made a typo.

[–]UpsideButNotDown 145 points146 points ago

The team now has one more fan than the WNBA.

[–]Mr_Titicaca 24 points25 points ago

Holy fuck that was uncalled for.

[–]Backupusername 11 points12 points ago

three times*

[–]Cavemansol 24 points25 points ago

That is so disrespectful...reminding us of the WNBA. You're an ass.

[–]Rydea 26 points27 points ago

that was very original

[–]TheSprinkleyOne 8 points9 points ago

Sort of original. This one came a year earlier:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEwa3fo2Dmg&t=0m20s

[–]bays 3 points4 points ago

YES. was hoping this would be posted, the original.

[–]Rydea 2 points3 points ago

well although that one is the original I think this one is funnier...just my opinion :$

[–]senorcool 5 points6 points ago

According to the comments the other times that this has been posted here, the dude was mocking the refs because his teammate got thrown out or got a red card because the teammates's celebration was unsportsman like.

[–]IranianGenius 7 points8 points ago

I love his little tiny footsteps and applause near the end. Hilarious!

[–]techietalk_ticktock 12 points13 points ago

Using this gif the next time someone 'likes' their own post on Facebook.

[–]Mr_Titicaca 6 points7 points ago

Haha that was awesome. I get his antics have pissed many off, but the guy can still play. I'm still amazed no team wants to sign him.

[–]ThePolishCatt 6 points7 points ago

Eh... American football celebrations aren't as... enthusiastic.

[–]syo 3 points4 points ago

Because enthusiastic celebrations can draw an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, especially in the college game.

God forbid anyone get upset at you celebrating your touchdown.

[–]DefinitelyPositive 0 points1 point ago

I don't know man, that was some pretty raw emotion displayed from the guys in silver.

[–]vikingz0mbi3 2 points3 points ago

Oh man I remember that. As a Cowboys fan that pissed me off greatly.

[–]Tratix 2 points3 points ago

I don't see anyone with the video link so Here it is

[–]theresaviking 1 point2 points ago

Thanks, the gif. wasn't loading for me.

[–]Tratix 0 points1 point ago

isnt it wierd, gifs which are only a few low-quality frames can take longer than thousands of high-quality youtube frames...

[–]DrakeSar 19 points20 points ago

Anyone know what game this was ?

[–]Solivaga 21 points22 points ago

Nov. 17th, 2005, FC United of Manchester (in red) vs Castleton Gabriels (later renamed Rochdale Town) in blue.

This was in the North West Counties League Division Two, and most teams have very small numbers of fans. In this case Castleton took precisely 0 fans to the away game at FCUM (played at Bury's Gigg Lane).

Also worth saying that the final score was FCUM 10 - 2 Castleton Gabriels

[–]DrakeSar 2 points3 points ago

Awesome, love the way FCUM started!

[–]Solivaga 3 points4 points ago

They're a fantastic club - fan owned, non-profit, rooted in the community, and the fans are fantastic

[–]adamrgolf 59 points60 points ago

Football

[–]DrakeSar 13 points14 points ago

[–]3nd1t 3 points4 points ago

[–]bays 1 point2 points ago

[–]Syvandrius 3 points4 points ago

And now for Expert mode: Do this in hockey

[–]Silence2358 32 points33 points ago

I wish soccer was more popular in the US, it has the best atmosphere for the fans.

[–]Pedro9000ish 18 points19 points ago

You need to go to a rugby International then! It's basically a pub with 60,000 people in it.

[–]aedeos 13 points14 points ago

Move to the PNW. We LOVE it up here.

[–]poundtownbrown 4 points5 points ago

Timber Jim!

[–]aedeos 5 points6 points ago

Rave Green ;)

[–]Cavemansol 4 points5 points ago

Nothing quite like the rush of being trampled to death by other fans...

[–]DefinitelyPositive -1 points0 points ago

How's it different from basketball, baseball or american football?

[–]JenksAlamo 16 points17 points ago

The equivalent of liking your own status on Facebook.

[–]robtheviking 2 points3 points ago

This beats every goal celebration

[–]sl8_slick 5 points6 points ago

aaand yellow card

[–]johnnymnemonicdevice 1 point2 points ago

Awesome celebration. The goal wasn't bad either.

[–]CleanBill 1 point2 points ago

needs an edit with forever alone face in the end

[–]Vogey 1 point2 points ago

[–]GFandango 1 point2 points ago

forever alone

[–]JesusIsTruth 1 point2 points ago

What a winner.

[–]Phoequinox 1 point2 points ago

Soccer gets a lot of shit for not being as "hardcore" as guys mindlessly running into each other, but from all I've seen, it seems like soccer has way better moments. Football has an occasional funny celebratory dance, but most of what's noteworthy is people getting injured. In soccer, you see this kind of shit, which I love.

cue someone posting the gif of the football player running to sit down after a game

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]Phoequinox 1 point2 points ago

Aye.

[–]gggregory 0 points1 point ago

The stands where filled when he scored the goal and then when he ran into the stands to cheer for himself they were empty. I smell a conspiracy.

[–]ghlysptwld 0 points1 point ago

BAD ASSSSSS
