Rachel is actually a really interesting character. I was surprised re-reading it. In the end, despite being so dissimilar to her, I found myself identifying with her the most.

They're surprisingly dark, too, for 'kids' books. There are a lot of scene of brutality by both the heroes and the enemies.

However...towards the end of the series the author starts to put the books off on to ghost writers...and the quality decrease is very noticeable...

If you want a dark series by the same author, try the Everworld series. My only regret with the series is that the ending is unsatisfying; but overall, it's a great series.

I reread them about 2 years ago. I never finished them when I was a kid, and was completely surprised at how dark they got near the end.

The series 'republishing' is going well, I heard. Might be a 2.0 series some day, hopefully.

I have the whole set, including megamorphs and all the chronicles,I agree with the brutality part, I see i missed it when i was younger, but it is downright brutal, the fighting,and the choices they have to make through the books. I must say my personal favourite is Marco,though Tobias impressed me the most,.They made televison series of animorphs which was pretty lame, i wish theyd make a new version,show the gore and brutality send it on HBO, better quality, with serious actors and good script....Id watch the shit outta that show....and she should write more.....mostly of what i know about animals is from this series....big ups to the author....Fuckin love Animorphs

Some of the early ones have some wear and tear, some spine peel. I read them a bunch. But it's all readable, no missing pages.

I've only once used my PC for reading, and that was when I couldn't borrow Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince from the Library. I like having a book in my hands to be honest, just feels right.

You should read the extended universe books, they are fucking cool. There's one about the Hork Bajir home planet that gets basically eradicated with chemical weapons, one about the andalites traveling through space. It's way more crazy sci fi and a lot darker, none of the main characters at all, definitely my favorite books in the series

I used to own every book in the series, including the prequels and other side stuff. I let a "friend" borrow the first book. I never got it back. A few years later, I have no idea what happened to all of them. Someone in my house probably gave them away to Goodwill or some crap. Tis a shame.
