[–]Sheldontheturtle 8 points9 points ago

False. Earth has existed for 4.6 billion years not 3

[–]Toesmasher 2 points3 points ago

So? The claim was that life has been around for 3 billion years, the earth was lifeless for quite a while.

This is a joke by atheists. I'm not saying there aren't Christians that are stupid enough to believe it, just that this isn't real. Link below to the "forum" where atheists make stupid posts like this to joke about Christians. It's awesome. Look at the badges the users get. My favorite is the fist. If you mouse over it, it says "tell her once."

I knew they are a satirical website, but I never really looked at their badges. The OP in your link has two ex-masturbator badges and two ham badges. So I guess he stopped masturbating twice?

Oh man, I just noticed the white hood badge. "True Christian Caucasian." The boxing gloves for "Punched the most queers!" Genius.

That first responder.

"Banned. Conformed enemy of god."

I died.

I had a great thread of comments on this picture a LONG time ago. It's a shame I can't find it. I love this picture, btw.

I don't know whether to be incredibly frustrated that some people actually can be this brainless, or just amused at their stupidity.

[–]A_Turkey 3 points4 points ago

I'm not atheist, but this is the reason I hate being religious at all. I'm not one of those crazy ass religious people like these guys though, it's just part of how I was brought up. Stop trying to be clever you are failing miserably, and making all of us look bad...

[–]HappyHappyMatt 1 point2 points ago

I can appreciate the sentiment, but do you tell them that? It might mean more coming from someone of the same religion and I'm fairly certain everyone here agrees that crazy ass religious people are bad.

[–]A_Turkey 2 points3 points ago

No, I don't because seeing as I'm 16, it'll just make teenagers look bad as well :(

Also my mom is like this kinda, not too bad, but arrogant as shit sometimes and just kind of annoying with it, but that's the way she was raised. Anything I say (which I do say things sometimes) would as she says "reflect on her" which is complete bullshit I speak for myself, but I don't feel like getting in trouble with my parents lol

[–]HappyHappyMatt 1 point2 points ago

Don't do anything that would get you kicked out, but I was thinking more along the lines of just correcting people's misconceptions of science. You might not be far enough in your education to answer some of the more advanced questions coherently, but surely you can at least say that you're not sure anyone believes that we are literally first generation descendants of monkeys - that a human was born of a monkey. Maybe even just suggesting that the big bang is more complicated than they are making it out to be.

Regardless, I'm not advocating you standing up in church and yelling "BULLSHIT!" Don't do anything that might get you in serious trouble. Maybe one day when you're older and more independent if you're still a religious person that attends church or other religious meetings you will be in a better position to challenge people's misconceptions of what science is and is not and what statements about scientific theory are and are not accurate.

[–]A_Turkey 1 point2 points ago

I understand Evolution and all of that and have seen the proof and reasons and have decided by myself that I believe we evolved from apes and I believe that there was a big bang, and I wouldn't stand up and yell bullshit, but most of the time people don't really speak of things like that, I'm Catholic I just go to church and they say the usual shit every week blah blah blah lol, but just every once people say retarded shit, or like anti-gay things and things like that. A lot of people actually vote against Obama because he is Pro-Choice, which is just ridiculous because they act like that is all that matters and I don't think they realize that if someone wants to have an abortion, they will either kill it themselves//purposely have a miscarriage, abuse the child as it grows up, and just flat out be terrible parents because they didn't want the child to begin with and were forced to have it. Not saying all of them would be like that but I think you're picking up what I'm dropping.

[–]HappyHappyMatt 0 points1 point ago

Yes, I understand what you're saying, and I think we agree.

[–]Fleshgod 3 points4 points ago

Behold! /r/Atheism's favorite repost!

[–]Qwertyon 1 point2 points ago

Well it is fairly amusing...and horribly depressing...can it be both?

[–]Aegr_Rotfedic 2 points3 points ago

[–]cazz14159 1 point2 points ago

THE WATER CYCLE MOTHERFUCKER, DO YOU KNOW IT?

[–]_emperor_ 1 point2 points ago

Fucking "Water cycle" - how does it work?!

[–]ThomasGokey 1 point2 points ago

I love this. It's absolutely brilliant. At a certain point don't you just have to admire the way they think. F for basic earth science, but A+ for creativity.

[–]Meatslinger 1 point2 points ago

They must be right; I feel like I'm burning in a lake of fire.

No, wait, it's a lake of BULLSHIT.

[–]WishIhadaLife21 0 points1 point ago

Actually had a friend on Facebook (he's full on Christian) and I completely destroyed his stupid arguments he just stopped replying like five minutes in.

[–]Atheizm 0 points1 point ago

This is around the point that someone in the comments points this out as satire and restores my faith in humanity. It's ok, you can lie. I just need someone to say it because people ARE NOT THIS STUPID. We are talking about irrational ammounts of ignorance of a basic train of thought here people!

[–]themolestedsliver 0 points1 point ago

i main thing i hate about this is the arrogance that they are like "oh science is slowly proving you wrong" like how science can prove ANYTHING in your bible.......and every hear of the water cycle? guess not

[–]ToastyTheDragon 0 points1 point ago

... Now everyone, all together now! -Simultaneous facepalm-

[–]loveforpuck35 1 point2 points ago

I'd like to see the people behind this try to drink salt water.

[–]Etalan 0 points1 point ago

Did the person count for all the water store up in the ice cap?
