Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that was painfully tough. I beat the entire game, but that freakin' boss was one of the toughest in my opinion, being underleveled at that point in the game.

YES! The one where he was possessed by Ansem in Hollow Bastion? This was the exact cutscene I was referring to.

... and now that I think about it, I remember in Chain of Memories I never knew you could skip cut scenes, That would have saved me soo much time, and frustration fighting Captain Hook, and the dragon. :O

What Final Fantasy 13 did right

  • Skip cutscene

  • You can retry the battle, which just resets it from the beginning

  • Let's you change your equipment, paradigms, and use your xp at the beginning of the battle if there is no oppurtunity prior to the boss fight. This allows you to reconfigure your party accordingly to fight more efficiently. I can't count the number of times this saved me as I had unused xp or had to set my paradigms.

God of War: Chains of Olympus' final boss. The bad thing about that one was that directly after the cutscene was over you're thrown right into the action, meaning you actually have to watch the whole thing if you wanted to stand a chance.

I wiped on the trophy for Part 1 on Hard in 1 sitting with no deaths. Then I figured out you could detach the plasma gun on the train and spent the next 5 minutes facepalming at myself.
