Pretty close to, European economy would have floored out pretty quick, Hitler was invading (one reason, anyways) to shore up Germany's economy, which was unsustainable at the time. The genocide of jews, gays, cripples, mentally handicapped, gypsies et al would have continued unabated.

Nazi Germany would have been the first nation on the earth to have a nuclear arsenal and intercontinental ballistic missiles. China, Korea and most of the pacific would have been under Imperial Japan, who was racist to an extreme not even Hitler could match.

Italy under Mussolini, Spain under Franco, most of Africa under Hitler.

We may have never sent men to the moon, due to no Cold War, or we may have a more massive space presence, due to unified goals and earlier mastery of rocketry.

It would be a very, very different world if they'd won. The global powers would been German, Japanese and possibly American, if they managed to withdraw sufficient troops and naval forces, but Hawaii would be lost, and Germany in control of Russia would have had staging close enough to bombard north america with rockets.

Western Civilization as we know it would have been seriously hindered, but no, I don't think it would have been destroyed. Just corrupted.

This was imperial age Europe, suggesting that anyone with Brown skin was even remotely equal to white people was political suicide.

Heck, even when they allied themselves with lesser races, they just took over their countries once the war was done (as was the case with the Arab revolt).

Winny grew up in a time when even if you were privileged, you still had to show you had SOMETHING.
He separated himself from the pack by doing just that.
I can never, however, forgive his fixation with invading southern Europe.
Both Galipoli and the Italian Campaign were horrible wastes of men and material.

The southern campaigns were strategically viable, however they were managed horribly in terms of an operational capacity. Churchill never oversaw in an operational capacity. The application of pressure on a third front would have severely damaged Austria's availability of troops. And Churchill never advocated an invasion of Italy. Everyone seems to have forgotten that Italy fought on the side of the entente and lost almost half a million soldiers in the war against Austria...

He held his fixation with the 'soft underbelly' of Europe well beyond World War II.
He felt that (and I think it's because he was mentally stuck in the romanticism of the Greek and Roman Eras) to the Mediterranean being the key to controlling Europe.
I'm in no way a professional Historian, but I've read his books and I think that was his mind set.

Brittan had massive commitments in the Mediterranean. During the early 1900s they saw the Suez Canal and Gibraltar as strategically important to their economic flow. They saw it as the 'soft underbelly' as there was no great power there; asides from Austro-Hungry who had a tenuous hold on the balkans. But my point before was that Churchill shouldn't have the disaster at Gallipoli pinned on him. It was an operational failure that caused the strategic failure. The actual projected campaign was apparently sound. Also, were you talking about the WW2 Italian campaign?

I think (reading what I have about Winnies thoughts on WW I and WW II) that he didn't see much difference between the two wars. And I know that I'm 'pinning it' on him, but truth be told, he was in charge and pushed it through.
I don't think the Italian Campaign of WW II was necessary as it only delayed Operation Overlord.
I think (and again, I'm no Pro Historian, this is just ME reading HIS books (and a few others)) that after Sicily, there was no reason to invade Italy Proper.
It only tied up Armies and men that could have been used better elsewhere.
And I know this sounds like I'm look through hind-sight....but He had the evidence before him even then and felt that it simply HAD to happen. When it really didn't.
I'm not saying this to say anything negative about YOU or your opinion. I hold your opinion as valid as mine on the internet.
BUT, my main point about Winny being an amazing figure in World history...from Alexander the Great through to (for good or ill) Hitler. He was an amazing person. And we need more of him. In my HUMBLE opinion, of course.

Gallipoli was a genius strategic move. If they had pulled it off and exploited it, the war would have been won in 1915. Alas, prior to WWI Britain did not believe amphibious operations required specialized, trained amphibious troops.

If he was a good Military leader, he would have realized what his Admirals and Generals were telling him...or at least hinting at. Which was that an amphibious assault that size was impracticable at that time.
