I didn't really expect anything out of that show, but i was pleasantly surprised when i saw the first episode.

[–]SorryForMyEnglish 17 points18 points ago

What show?

[–][deleted] 42 points43 points ago

Gravity Falls

You can see the first 2 episodes here.

[–]Kizaing 13 points14 points ago

DAMNIT U.S. only :(

[–]Yulex2 5 points6 points ago

Why the hell do they even do this?

[–]MindlessDreamer 8 points9 points ago

Licensing issues, it's usually not their choice

[–]elefantpp 9 points10 points ago

Wait. People in other countries don't have things we have?

[–]Yulex2 0 points1 point ago

Well that sucks.

[–]Kizaing 2 points3 points ago

I live in Canada. I don't see much of an issue, yet we aren't allowed nice things.

[–]DumplingSawce 0 points1 point ago

Would using a proxy like Ultrasurf help?

[–]star_witness 5 points6 points ago

I live in Canada, and I use a proxy. Yes, it does help. I no longer get redirected when I try to watch The Daily Show, and I can even use Hulu.

Proxies - they're like internet magic.

[–]torandicus 0 points1 point ago

You can find them all on youtube too.

[–]PatAunces 9 points10 points ago

Wow 2D animation has gotten a lot better lately. So far it's actually funny, wasn't expecting that.

[–]RicoSuave803 6 points7 points ago

Yeah. Shows like this and Adventure Time really amaze me at how high quality some animation is nowadays.

[–]kushmau5 3 points4 points ago

Lots of shows and movies have been pleasantly surprising me this year. Tron: Uprising being one of them.

[–]Snoopyalien24 4 points5 points ago

Avatar: The Legend of Korra

[–]kushmau5 0 points1 point ago

I know! I STILL haven't seen Avatar, completely.

[–]Snoopyalien24 0 points1 point ago

The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra? The subreddit on here is amazing and pure AWESOME if you're a fan. Don't go yet untill you watch everything lol

[–]kushmau5 1 point2 points ago

The Last Airbender. Oh, really? That's great, I will def have to remember to subscribe after I finish TLA

[–]spidey98 17 points18 points ago

I just started watching this. Why is it on Disney Channel? It's actually funny and pretty good.

[–]RoxiSmith33 14 points15 points ago

Disney Channel? That would explain why this is the 1st I have heard of it.

[–]InnerTaunTaun 11 points12 points ago

Have you ever watched Phineas and Ferb? They're pretty funny too.

"Why would marathoners chase anyone? Except you know, three runners from Kenya."

[–]DoorLord 3 points4 points ago

I always put off Phineas and Ferb as a dumb show after i saw the first episode. But after watching a few more the past week it's actually pretty funny. I like the meta-humor a lot of episodes have.

[–]chewy_pewp_bar 1 point2 points ago

The first few episodes aren't a good representation of the show as a whole. It's kept up-to-date on the Netfix instant thing, so if you have that, just set aside a few hours one day and watch any episode past #5. Typically, the later the episode, the better it is.

[–]MyPublicFace 0 points1 point ago

What do you like about it?

[–]prose-before-hoes 1 point2 points ago

Wow, this is actually really funny.

[–]SorryForMyEnglish 0 points1 point ago

Thank you!

[–]worldbird 0 points1 point ago

Anyone have a non-country-restricted link?

[–]Kitsune013 4 points5 points ago

There is a Gravity falls sub Reddit. You can check there.

[–]humpcat 0 points1 point ago

oh god the writers from Flapjack And Fish Hooks. Reddit praises this though so i'll give it a try.

[–]TheRealCalypso 14 points15 points ago

The only reason I started watching it was because my cousin is the art director (guy who draws all the background, scenery, etc). I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the writing.

[–]ChickenFingaz 10 points11 points ago

it's from the same writer who wrote the misadventures of flapjack on cartoon network, which i personally liked.

[–]Ryan_Firecrotch 4 points5 points ago

While everyone is spouting about blah blah 90s kidz omg, good shows like Fish Tales, Adventure Time, Chowder, and this one all popped up.

[–]RicoSuave803 1 point2 points ago

Hehe... Chowder...

[–]MeGusta1110 2 points3 points ago

I saw a similarity in the artwork, and I assumed it was either flapjack or made by the same person.

[–]TheRealCalypso 2 points3 points ago

Here's his blog. He has a lot of his art up there. Link

[–]Robonia 0 points1 point ago

I actually only heard about the show from my art school sister, I actually normally hate cartoons but I watched all the available episodes for this show in a day, also NEW EPISODE 9 PM TONIGHT!

[–]nicesalamander 0 points1 point ago

i've been hearing a lot about it, is it really that good?

[–]ecm1999 2 points3 points ago

Not really good but it's a fairly good show. But compared to other Disney shows you could call it really good.

[–]kwertykus 1 point2 points ago

I think it's definitely on par with other popular cartoons right now, regardless of its Disney status. Personally, I find it funnier and more engaging that Adventure Time and Regular Show.

[–]nicesalamander 0 points1 point ago

i will try to watch a few episodes to see how it is.

[–]JangSaverem 18 points19 points ago

Do you like Gravity Falls?

-Yes

-Definitely

-ABSOLUTELY!

Pssst...I rigged it

[–]FlacoSamurai 4 points5 points ago

Same here I was channel surfing when I see this show. the drawings reminded me of the regular show only with less... weird characters.

[–]audiofreedom 0 points1 point ago

I watched an episode yesterday and the story line kind of reminded me of Regular show. It was normal until like halfway through when things got weird.

[–]Mutterhead 2 points3 points ago

I saw the first episode and instantly fell in love. Mabel is great and Kristan does such a great job playing her.

[–]hatsreverywhere 1 point2 points ago

It really is a lot better than I expected but I hope they don't try and take all of the mystery out of it.

[–]DoorLord 1 point2 points ago

Holy shit it's so much more amazing than i though. What with the hidden message, codes, and the secret backwards whisper that is a key to decoding the code.

[–]hisfavouriteflavour 0 points1 point ago

You are everywhere man.

[–]Maxatron4000 22 points23 points ago

I'm currently in a business meeting doing exactly this

[–]kampfy3 28 points29 points ago

takkity takkity takkity takkity takkity

"Johnson! Read that back to me!"

...shit...

[–]MyPublicFace -1 points0 points ago

You must be young. Everyone probably notices you writing. I doubt that it's helping you get ahead in any way if others are not writing and you are not writing anything of value to those who are not writing.

[–]Grilled_Cheesy 16 points17 points ago

Why isn't this show on Cartoon Network instead of Disney? It seems like a show that would be on CN..

[–]Professor_Pootis 2 points3 points ago

I think CN made this show and put it on Disney Channel just to piss people off

[–]xXWhoCaresXx 0 points1 point ago

I wondered that too. i feel that CN can do a lot more good with the show than Disney can... so let's just hope they don't fuck it up

[–]TrustmeIknowaguy 12 points13 points ago

Fuck yeah, Gravity Falls. My childhood was spend in the backwoods of the pacific north west and this show strikingly dead on in its portrayal, minus all the paranormal stuff.

[–]Paradox295 6 points7 points ago

Obligatory Subreddit Pimp Out: www.reddit.com/r/gravityfalls

But, yeah, this show is fucking amazing. Love it even more than Adventure Time or Regular Show.

[–]kushmau5 6 points7 points ago

More than Adventure Time? Are you sure? I may have to check this show out then. That's a pretty big deal.

[–]audiofreedom 0 points1 point ago

Didn't this show just come one a couple weeks ago? Why isn't there a subreddit for Puineas and Ferb!?

[–]audiofreedom 0 points1 point ago

Day made. Thank you!! I don't know how I never found that!

[–]Kuruzen 5 points6 points ago

That rainbow puking gnome, it'll be a gif. no doubt.

[–]Mcflexington 7 points8 points ago

[–]Kizaing 1 point2 points ago

All my upvotes! So... just one.

[–]iDontShift 3 points4 points ago

bill hicks -

You know what I hate about working? Bosses. That's what I fucking hate...

'Hicks, how come you're not working.'

I'd go, 'There's nothing to do.'

'Well, you pretend like you're working.'

'Well, why don't you pretend I'm working? Yeah, you get paid more than me, you fantasise. Pretend I'm mopping. Knock yourself out. I'll pretend they're buying stuff; we can close up. I'm the boss now, you're fired. How's that?'

I don't know if I have the right attitude for the workplace.

[–]foxhole_atheist 2 points3 points ago

[–]Erinchostyles 6 points7 points ago

Disney actually created a good weird show.

[–]walln3 1 point2 points ago

It gets worst when in a big meeting you are not writing a shit and your boss starts writing, in my mind is like "fuck, that shit supposed to be important and I wasn't even listening". One way out is to carefully make a question related to the topic and then writte that shit down.

[–]GiveMeBackMySon 1 point2 points ago

If he's pretending to write something down, then why are there words on the paper? Hmmm.

[–]DoorLord 0 points1 point ago

Have you seen Gravity Falls? Weirder shit has happened.

[–]jocarbart 1 point2 points ago

Reminds me of what a huge bag of scum I once was.

[–]AdrianBrony 2 points3 points ago

so if I understand this show correctly, it's sort of like Twin Peaks for kids? sounds cool. I'll watch some sometime.

[–]DoorLord 0 points1 point ago

NOW the episodes are short. It's actually pretty good. It's not as good as Adventure Time but if you like Adventure Time you will like this.

[–]nchammer326 1 point2 points ago

it's sort of like Twin Peaks for kids?

Pretty much. Alex Hirsch, the show's creator, described it as "Twin Peaks meets The Simpsons", and there's apparently a scene in episode 4 that's a reference to TP.

[–]Lydundiah 1 point2 points ago

But you don't have to pretend...you are indeed writing something down.

[–]lavacat 1 point2 points ago

I have randomly started "taking notes" during meetings just to get my other coworkers to start writing stuff down. It's like one person sees you writing, gets nervous that they ought to be, too, and a chain reaction starts.

[–]BaconMask 0 points1 point ago

He goes from lefty to righty!

[–]theblurberybaker 5 points6 points ago

Good observation but it doesn't actually directly show what hand he was using, neither of his arms were moving in the beginning.

[–]1zero2two8eight 0 points1 point ago

In that case, he wrote that he's pretending to write when in fact, he is writing!

[–]mofontes 0 points1 point ago

I am always constantly writing and then rewriting my signature all over the handout.

[–]NominalAeon 0 points1 point ago

whoo, I went to summer camp with Jason Ritter!

[–]Norma5tacy 0 points1 point ago

I just saw the first episode of this and I love it. Now another show I have to follow along with the many others..

[–]ibeinthesea 0 points1 point ago

so meta

[–]skiingbeing 0 points1 point ago

But...but...he IS writing something down.

[–]SubtleMockery 0 points1 point ago

You could write the actual thing down in the time it took you to write that down.

[–]YOitzODELLE 0 points1 point ago

This is funnier than the show itself. Har, I kid kid. It's actually not that bad. The bad part is that it's on fucking Disney channel.

[–]nathanb065 0 points1 point ago

I was excited when I saw he was a fellow lefty too... Then I realized the animators made a mistake. He's ambidextrous

[–]burntham77 0 points1 point ago

No matter how much sleep I have had the night before or how wide awake I was leading up to it, the second I get into a meeting I get all droppy-eyed.

[–]Crazystyler200 0 points1 point ago

Glad i´m not the only one

[–]Fishooked 0 points1 point ago

Everyone does this

[–]BlendinBlandin 1 point2 points ago

Has anyone here seen a calculator?

[–]bombombtom -1 points0 points ago

Exactly why I do as a waiter when someone asks for Something extra or tells me pointless info about their meal

[–]giftranslator -1 points0 points ago

This means that this user pretends to take notes in meetings, but does not.

[–]theycallmealex -1 points0 points ago

where is his pen connected to?

[–]TheBiznoid -1 points0 points ago

ok to me the show looks alot like regular show just because how it was drawn
