same with r/funny, or r/WTF.. karma whores kill this site, which is supposed to provide new and fresh material from around the internet or, god forbid, OC. forcing/creating 100 shitty memes a week, reposting things every day for a week, and these kinds of things, are ONLY HERE because of karma.

if the site looks healthy, you should look under it's hood at content, both of submissions and comments, as compared to 3 or 4 years ago. you will see that, sometimes, even people with terminal diseases don't show any outward signs until the quick collapse has begun.

i'm not pushing it, nor am i emotionally involved. i'm just a fairly intelligent 3rd party observer with good observation skills and a good memory. i remember this site 3 or 4 years ago (this isn't my first account), and, believe me, it is MUCH worse. comments are all fucking meme speak with little analysis. way more racism and sexism. way more shitty reposts.

if you don't see it, it's you whose judgement is clouded. just cause you want to believe something is just as awesome as always doesn't mean it is: see- exceptionalism, american.

No your wrong, karma is just likes and dislikes that decide what to show what hits the front page. But it is comments like yours that keep reddit alive, the re-evaluation of reddit scares people, they don't want reddit to die so they make sure they watch what they upvote and downvote, they make sure they know what they are upvoting and why. If we did not have people like you, reddit would have made it this far.

I created my reddit account and commented because a girl had posted on askreddit about a labor dispute at work which I had gone through and resolved through my state's dept. of labor. So I posted some links to the DOL's website and i got upvoted to the top comment with like 320 upvotes. That was the first day of the rest of my life... which now involves far too much time on reddit getting ~2 upvotes per comment.

A lot of the time, they make a reddit account so they can post something really awesome. In addition to that, new users have a prior lifetime of stuff to post, whereas everyone older who already burned through that has to rely on their daily lives. It's not surprising to see a user's first post remain their best for a long time.
