When I took my current job they were struggling with corrupt ZIPs. No more! Your DOS utility can't deal with +4GB files? It ain't no thang. Higher compression is a bonus.

We're a small company but we use the crap out of WinSCP and 7-Zip. How do I sell my bosses on sending those guys money?

7-zip was the first software I used to unzip files, and my friend downloaded Winrar to update minecraft one day. My computer won't let me uninstall it for some reason and it always opens Winrar automatically now. First world problems here.

I went to where it asks you what kind of files you want associated with Winrar and I couldn't uncheck any of the boxes specifying which one. Also for some reason 7-zip isn't listed in my programs list.

That's odd. Another approach you can try is to open 7-zip, go to Tools, Options, System, and you should be able to set your default files there. Just make sure you run 7-zip as an administrator or it wont be able to change the settings.

Serious answer, right click the file > properties > under general should be opens with, hit change.

Works with any type of file.

I can't figure out how to do it still. I've tried switching default from 'Winrar' to '7zip' and it won't show up in the folder that it's in when I try to find it to clarify.
